Sweet :D
Maybe have the burst go in a more subtle direction instead of the 45 degree angle here.

Made a few little revisions. Toned down the 45 degree blast lines :)

Btw there are 5th of a second frames in it, just so you know.

I guess this is a light cannon animation, probably the lowest powered attack or whatever. A stronger one would probably have him pushed back on his hind legs.

Thanks guys. I'm quite happy with what i've got atm, but any crits are welcome!

Added an idle animation (which i like to call purring :P) to the one from above. As before i've yet to make the tweening frames.

I don't want to overburden myself so i'm just making these animations for fun, it's good practice and i've been wanting to for ages. I doubt i'm ready to continue with this whole game idea yet though.

EDIT:

Added a tweening frame from idle to walk. Isn't brilliant but seems good enough to me.

Really? Compared to reality you're deff right, but i really like it... :P

Since it involves 3 of the main animations needed - idle, movement & attacking - i might submit it. Unless anyone else has anything else to addddddddd?

The idle anim seems a bit to fast and/or active to me. Looks almost like he (he?) is celebrating in a very low-key way.

That so funny cuz to me, it seems like the idle is just catching its breath with adds a sense of awareness and personality.

*why can't we all be exactly the same : /

Clarification: I think it works in the current context (hey, I'd celebrate too if I could fire from a cannon mounted in my face), just maybe not as an all-purpose idle, but what do I know?

EDIT: Also, the way he goes shoot-pause-idle seems weird.
EDIT: To me.

Hehe thanks guys. I'm not sure what i could do that would be subtler yet still show life, so at least for now i don't think i'm gunna make another. Hatch you do make a good point though, it's because the barrel wobble animation at the end of the firing anim doesn't fit with the idle anim, i shall fix that.

EDIT:

So the start of the idle anim needs to be cut and a tween from firing to idle placed in. There's a tween between the walk and firing and one between idle and walking. Yay! I've got it figured.

Thanks for the offer Vertigo, Demon hasn't been working on it all this time though :P we've had a very long break from this, and i'm not working on it as a game atm.

Along those lines, i was thinking of making this a strategy/tactical rpg, cus i freaking love them and platformers aren't my thing. I just can't see how it would work and be fun as a platformer, the animations are too slow and the sprite itself is massive and awkward. Obviously the animations i've made now would be the attack ones, like in fire emblem and advance wars. I've already made teeny-sprites of the rustbug that could be used as map sprites, although i may redo them anyway.

Thoughts?

Well... why would it need to catch its breath if it's a robot? XD

(Or maybe it's just for a cartoony feel...............?)

Skull Master: Well it was supposed to be purring or humming. Like a stopped but running car.

RPG hell yeah!
But the navigation would be a bit odd, perhaps it would be like Paper Mario?

Oh and the more I look at the 'bug the more I hate the exaggerated kick on the thing. I don't like how it kicks down, it gives the feel that it is collapsing... sorta.

Ya, I had the engine done long long ago, then larwick and I decided to forgo the game at the time. I used the engine as a school project about 2? year ago.  Though I wouldn't mind picking it up again, but I agree with you larwick, something more than a platformer would be nice. :P

At the moment I've been programming games for the Xbox 360 live.  Soon the deployment system for these games will be released and the business model for people buying games over the Xbox has already been given. You make 70% of each game purchase, which are in MS points, the xbox live currency I believe; 800 points = (10$ / £6.80) so at that rate you get about (7$ / £4.76) a purchase.  Feel like making some money Larwick?

Just a thought after messing around with the game, if you make any floating tiles, it'll probably look best going along with the respective Rustbug is in; though the tiles I'm using at the moment are old and not intended to be floating tiles, just thought I'd mention it.
