Hello. I am Dathgale, the team leader of project Battlement. We are looking for some help creating pixel art for our real-time roguelike game currently in development.

Project Description:
Battlement is a multiplayer action/strategy game of teamwork and mind games. It is set in a world resembling Europe during the early 1500s. You press the arrow keys to move tile by tile and move against your opponents to attack. It's simple, but it was surprisingly fun when play-testing the prototype.

Talent Needed:
I am looking for one or two talented pixel artists who are passionate about game development and willing to devote a few months to creating the artwork for this game. I cannot pay anything up front, but when Battlement is released all team members will share profits based on contribution.

Previous Work by Team:
Most members of our team have only experience not specific to game development, and this is our first project as a team, however my previous project is http://www.risingsnowflake.com/. The graphics are not impressive, but I'm a coder, not an artist. If I were an artist, this wouldn't be an opportunity for you, now would it?

Well well well... I'm also into game development, non-commercial for now, but I have been very fond of the whole concept in many ways, as both gamer/developer and now artist.

The reason why I said that, it's cause this is an strategy game, an strategy game that requires a lot, and I meant a lot of sprites with lots of frames... I'm assuming that not only 4 directions, but 4 extra on isometric probably (in case you do the 8-way direction). This really takes a while to do, and you are only expecting to hire 2 people to do all of that... doing the math, and putting aside having to work in real life, gf time, friends, weekend hangouts, lol this could consume everyone's free time.

Also, it is unpaid on the go, while I understand, still it is too much work for it to be a promise of being paid when the game is released... since some of us have projects on our own (serious enough that we are ought to complete them), specially people who develop games here (like me heh). And like I said, rpg games and strategy ones are the ones who take most resources than any other game, in overall (NPCs, Monsters, PCs, Effects, Places, Dungeons, Etc).

On another note... the example provided by you of your previous project really doesn't say exactly what type of quality you are looking for... I think there needs to be a lot more "over the counter" details  in this thread before most people here can take a decision of such ardous work and time spent. Also, despite how much a developer/artist love creating work or games... still, too much work can overwhelm anyone man, trust me on that one haha.

Thank you for the feedback. Battlement is viewed in a top-down perspective, and it doesn't have fluid animations or the kind of unit variety that you find in a classic RTS. It comes out to about 100 sprites for the entire project.
