Hello!
This is my first piece that I have tried. I understand that it's rough around the edges and can use improvement. Does the overall scene have promise?
Thanks

Beautiful! Great composition, nice colors.

But yes, it's jaggy, and mostly because it is far, far too big! Esp for a first piece. It would take you days just to clean up, more days to shade properly, and even more to refine.
I'd suggest to redo (or resize) it at max 100x200 px. That's quite confortable to work with, even on the large side already.

Then you'll have to think of a light source and shade accordingly. The trunk has a good start, with light from the top. Birds and leaves should follow that.

Colors look a bit separate: I'd suggest to introduce some dark blues to link the greens and purples, and some reddish purples to link, well, reds and purples. And/or reddish browns. Or greys. You've got 27 colors so far, 5 more can't hurt, but try not to go beyond that.

Yes yes, something much smaller would be better. Something like this size, maybe:

(Oh, and you might want to drop the saturation/contrast in the background. It'll make the limb and all its' details *pop* more.)

Wow, massive :D

Something half the size is still impressive, otherwise you might end up giving up :P

To handle the background, desaturated silhouettes like in this piece might work, since you can work in cool jungle leafiness :B
