Pixel Joint Forum: Need help with RPG sprites!

   I want to make an RPG with Game Maker, but my pixel art skills SUCK. My main problem is that I don't want sprites like Pokemon or the early Final Fantasy games where it's chibi-styled. I want something more like The World Ends With You ("It's A Wonderful World" for those non North Americans) and Sands of Destruction. (Reference pics: TWEWY: http://www.spriters-resource.com/ds/iaww/neku.png; SoD: Can't find any good quality pics. D: )

Anyone know where I should start?
