"real or imaginary (non-human) creature"
Do vampires / zombies / other human-oid creatures count? |

An electrocuted mouse in a fire alarm case where it was planning to rest and get comfy. From life (way of speaking). Scary. Edited by Manupix - 07 June 2010 at 1:46pm |

If you're feeling relatively uncreative and wanting to see how far you can stretch the rules without exploring other available (probably more interesting) options in order to achieve a sense of loophole-finding rebellion, then...um...maybe. The reason for non-humans is to encourage a more interesting perspective on getting comfortable/relaxing. Think about the given example of Godzilla flippantly resting his feet on a nearby skyscraper, unwittingly causing massive amounts of damage... Edited by skamocore - 08 June 2010 at 12:59am |

I'm still pretty new at this, and I was wondering if anyone's got some advice for me, about dithering...
Since it's for the weekly challenge I'm asking it here, I hope that's alright. Anyway, I'm working on this one: And I was wondering how you can shade/dither something to make it shinier/slimier... Many thanks in advance. PS, the lightsource will be a setting sun, in the middle of the background Edited by Ailaik - 08 June 2010 at 6:51am |

Nothing personal, It was just the first thing that popped in my head. Before I start thinking about the challenge I like to fully comprehend the rules. There's no shame in asking! |

I think it'd be better if you didn't dither, because by dithering the texture made is normally (including yours) more of a gritty, bumpy texture. To answer the second question, look at some references such as: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/15080.htm http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/18967.htm http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/15867.htm They all share similar textures, with high contrast (First two have the lighest colour favouring a whiter appearence, resulting in a shinier more watery-like appearence. Hope i helped :) Good luck... I may participate, thinking of doing a tortoise on his shell whitewater rafting. We shall see :P |

Well, the contrast is a bit low, so nothing really stands out so it all becomes a "blob of colours"...
So, increase the contrast, simplify the forms of the cup, and with the double hands maybe make the hand not holding the cup darker, and the one that is holding the cup lighter so that the eye is drawn to that hand resulting in the improvement of readability. I'd also try and not fit as much detail in as you have (especially around the neck area, use "blocks" of colour instead of lines) If you don't get what i mean, i'll do a edit tomorrow for you :) |

I've seen the final version, quite impressive, good job.
Some corpses are strangely lying, but the scenen is strange so... Thanks Quake for the tips, I finally decided to add outlines. So the new version : (15 col)He looks younger I think it's more readable than earlier... (But there are always problems.) |
