Oh my! that's way better...24hour super improvement
See the way you colored the bottom of the boat where it meets the water (selout), do that to the snake's outline too. Don't forget to highlight where things touch the water like the rocks on the top. Also, if you use the darker blue around the people more they will stand out and probably read better, try that too.

@Mars, removed your reserved tile space. Maybe later on...btw, if you do find some pixel time some little tweak on your first tile would be cool. Some comments from your neighbors have been posted...don't work too hard.
_____
@LuckyF, It must be an optical illusion because the treads are based on the black circle on the top, which is the bottom. This sometimes happen with iso so I may bump it up some after I see what you're doing to the bottom corner in your tile. I had to force the claw to be low so it fit in my tile.

@Jeremy, will you add a suggestion of shadows in your tile. At least the big ball part?

@Jalonso
Well I think it probobly should be closer to the middle but not a big issue for me. It works pretty well as it is.
And I finally did something with my tile ))

And also I don't think I'm going to wait for Rafa anymore ))

Hey, you said those cubes coming out all over the place were so crucial, where are they on your side, just 2...*tsk*tsk*
The claw on my tile is a bit of a sacrifice, its on the very edge of my tile. The pole is gonna cover it if its higher up.

Looking awesome, I'll play with my edge now :)

Can't remove Rafa yet, we have to give him more time to come thru.

By rule we can't make tiles that neighbor our own so I'm running our ad again

Well I didn't say there's going to be a lot of them (square things). But I now see the perfect place for third one )))
And about the threads. Don't bother I quite like it as it is )

Oh no need to remove him. At first I was just thinking that he started something and our tiles won't blend well. Now I let him worry about it cause I think I will finish mine sooner )))

Depending on what you consider neighboring we can sidestep this rule really easy if you do 12 and I do 19. But that's not really fun.

2nd WIP for tile 68

Gonna add a returning war party or something over the bridge but have 2 questions:

-Can I end the bridge like that? Or do I have to disappear it before it hits the border?
-Is there anything disturbing in the tile?

@Gecimen, you can easily add an arch over the edge to cap it off (water highlight caps the pillars). Also you seem to want to do a lot with every pixel. More often than not its what you don't pixel but suggest that makes the clearest picture. Notice the edit on the right leg. Your leg has pixels all over the place most of with don't 'add' much. On the leg I edited I only focused on the toes and the hand, once that 'read' clear (its the important parts) all else is rather plain and flat colored(unimportant). Anything you see I didn't pixel I only suggest it so your mind finishes it up for me with all the needed details. Its a key pixelart skill.
The best example of this is all the people in this collab. The people you can clearly see are the ones that are implied and suggested, these are also the ones with the most personality and even movement. The people which are hardest to read are those who are over-pixelled and where people tried to add so much detail that the opposite effect happened. I actually drew a person on my tile (2 posts above) to illustrate this point to you in the tile next to that. So yea...less is more, blah, blah, blah.

@Jeremy, thx :)

Updated my tile slightly with improved added-greens and hopefully something that looks remotely more like an altar rather than half a column.

@ zenobia....
it would be nice to have some sort of sacrifice on that altar... and some BLOOD >:D
also a priest and like some people standing there... to add a bit more life (dead?) in a rather static scene

Well no blood, for realism. I agree it's a bit empty, but I am not sure if I have time to work on it any more. I'll see though, before the end of this collab...

Hey everyone.
I just saw the topic for the colab and I am currently giving a shot at it, even if I know that the quality won't match yours.

Here is what I did so far :

So yes the purple tite is still there, because I had in mind to claim the Number 1 and the first question was : Am I allowed to go out of the template since I am on one of the top tiles ?

My idea was to create a temple or some kind of throne room, but then I am not sure if you will allow it since it should be underground. I 'll add a pillar to hold the whole thing.

JC Denton, if you work on it the quality will match. Others will help you if you post updates and ask questions.
You can break the template in cases like yours. It can be underground-ish if you treat it like an entrance, since its on the very top. Maybe the corner can have stairs going down and you can light it so its dark.
The main problem atm, is that your neighbor (tile#9) is reserved and your idea may not match. Also, and more importantly tiles have to have an existing neighbor already and tile #1 does not. Can you modify your tile to fit in another area? Maybe that snowy section on the bottom left corner? or some other spot where a tile already exists.
...look at #46 or #76, will your idea fit there? #33 may be an option too.

OK so if I'm claiming tile 61, something like that might be good ? But this time I can't go out the template ?

Or else I'll way to see what is number 9 and I will adapt mine.

Well, you can leave the top section for your neighbor above you to complete the building or you can destroy the top section so its inside your tile. That castle wall is destroyed so it could work. You will have to make your edge all white so it matches you neighbor with the snowman. Some snow over the carpet solves that. A stone snowman God might be funny? If you make snow piles around the altar you can fade it all out. I can see this being a great looking tile :)

For now, I'll reserve #61 for you...post updates and we'll all help you make it awesome.

I'm surprised more tiles are not reserved considering how many artists are here at pixeljoint.  Then I thought maybe a bunch are just waiting for more tiles to be completed.  Then it occurred to me that maybe many don't know about this collaboration as it's a bit of a scroll down in the news section now.  Just a thought.

@dpixel: I think some of the famous faces of PJ should be motivated to take part even if with 1 tile. Via private message maybe. That would bring color.

@Jal:Your 27 doesn't match 35. I tried to match mine but the brick levels are incorrect. When I try to complete the wall it comes out something like this:

Btw, thanks for the advice for 68. So you imagined the statue is nude? Well either way it's a good idea. Will try to see how that works out.

They highly skilled sometimes avoid collabs like these as they normally go out of control quality wise. We shall try to keep the quality high enough to eventually entice these people. Of course this is open to all skill levels so we don't want to discourage the lesser skilled...we'll see how it goes...

I thought of continuing your wall and even tried it but then thought it would be best to have blocks on the outside of your wall as a retaining wall to protect the structure from the lava flow. Imagine that my blocks are just away from your wall in the back but even to yours on the side to allow the lava over the red rocks to have a place to flow seamlessly. To further make that distinction I colored my blocks redder than yours. I couldn't build higher because the technodrone would then be affected. The person is evaluating the situation as the lava flow is getting stronger and everything is in peril... Obviously I failed.
My tile is still WIPish as 2 of my neighbors are still not done so I do have to revisit the tile and will define you blocks very clear and fade mine away more :)

I did no such thing this must be that 'viewer adds details' I spoke of :p
If its a statue then its too flesh colored, add light blue and the light green to it were the redder parts are, leave yellow and light brown.

Ok, thanks a lot Jal, your critics really increased the quality of this tile to acceptable standards (hopefully).

Actually I began the statue as it's stone (see WIP1 a few pages earlier) hence the heavy dither (to make it rough like a stone). Then turned it to gold (alchemy?) to make it stand out better. But as nude and with green tones it looks much more like a statue. Also lost most of the dither as you said. Just added a de-erected genital organ since the one you added drew too much attention I thought  Tried to imitate your water bordering. I think yours looks very minimal and effective.

Added don quijote and sancho pancha, think they give the idea of a returning party. Still not quite fond of the wall on the back, maybe can edit it after someone does #60.

About the egyptian bricks, I think the red tiles look cool. Maybe those tiles in addition to the ones I posted earlier would look more complete.
Liek this:

Got several more ideas that I think could be interesting, but 19 will be my 4th tile so I think I shouldn't claim more than 5 for now, until the collab goes stagnant for a while.

-A group of WoW raiders in front of the dragon. Whelp eggs etc. Maybe one shouting -50 dkp :)

-A minotaur maze.

-A shipwreck or Black pearl from PotC in front of the kraken.

-Within one of the lava lakes, obviously, well never mind - Actually I might include the front of it in tile #19.

That's cool, I'm glad you didn't remove the guy. I actually liked him being there.

Also, I think my tile #68 is finished, if you or somebody else don't have any further criticism.

As for the ideas, I'm not trying to give them out, those are just the stuff I probably won't be able to add due to too many tiles.

And yeah btw what's your opinion over this? Is there an unwritten common-sense rule that one person (especially a newb like I am) shouldn't make too many tiles? Or do the collabs go like "hey if you've got time, add as many as you can" ?

All collabs have their own specs. This one calls for ALL(any skill level) to participate(within reason per Manupix's rule). You can make as many tiles as you wish but to prevent take-overs your tile can't neighbor another tile by you.
I consider c+c/ideas/suggestions/opinions/observations part of the collaboration too. Art directors are important too ;)

*your don quixote/sancho is not iso :(

Thanks, jal

Just messing around with #28  Very early WIP, but If you all think it's a good idea, I'll take it.  And try to make anubis stop looking like a deer.  XD

Although, I'd like to see what Mil is doing with #21.  I can slide the whole thing up if I have to.

@Club: looks quite nice, can't wait to see what's happening there.

@dpixel: Great stuff man. Would be cool if you continued the sacrophages on the wall (even one of them has 2 pixels as feet on the ground).

@Jalonso: Shall I change that gray color to dark red? Cause I think it doesn't show well on default theme.

@Gecimen, leave that for later since the neighbor above and below you may force you to revisit that tile again, right? The back wall seems confusing atm, and the tile above may help iron that out then too. I think its fine for now :)

Sure.  I'll add at least one.

EDIT:
Here's another WIP.  Thinking about a black and gold Anubis if I can pull it off.  Any thoughts?  I'll post another WIP to compare.
