Could try that, but the downside is I'll leave a full-brown border to whomever claims the upper tile.

I think what you said in the 1st part is very important. I shouldn't try to achieve everything at once. How bout I leave it like that? Does it seem wrong or does it not seem at all?

Still I'm going to try to make the glow on the sphere noticable, and add a few characters if I can handle it properly.

Thanks :)

I'm thinking more of a bunny.    Not because of the ears, but the fat cheeks.  Sorry jal.  :p  Colors are great though.  It's almost like what I was thinking earlier about a black and gold Anubis.

^^I agree.  Especially for me when it comes to colors.

Ok.  Off to work on this tile.

Some people have made their tile knowing they'll probably come back and tweak adjust  it. You never know what you neighbors on the other side will do so you may want to revisit this tile. They may even ask you to work on a little section or something.
Finish it to the point that if you never visit it again you will still be happy with it, but don't go so much into needless details (especially the edges) until you have your 4 neighbors. That's my advice for everyone.

Really rough WIP. I'm having a hard time with the iso. Not sure what to do with the side and roof part.

@kenpokis, do you want to trade your tile to #1? the #9 tile has stairs and people and rocks that could work nicely with your tile and have the temple facing into the whole picture instead of away from it.
Maybe you can make your whole tile's theme be the entrance into the underground world. I think that #9 tile has water so your temple can be flooded or something. Look at #9 and think creatively what the whole tile wants to be. Then its easy to help you with specific ideas you may have...
Let me know.

@dpixel, its a bunkey

@oke, your Alice tile is a floater. Can you find another spot that you can neighbor? I think (32) a3um has a WIP on your side on an earlier page. If you 2 match then its cool.

OK then I'll move you to #1. This is your neighbor

Just work from Abrax's tile edge until it meets the temple. Then maybe place rocks and finish the top of your neighbor's rocks and stairs. Post a WIP whenever you're ready or if you need any kind of help.

Hi everyone, just informing everyone I won't be able to produce a WIP for tile 58 until I've got a brand new computer, due to my current one stuffing up. Thank you  ro the patients and sorry to my neighbors, I will edit mine to fit. (well actually I will probably have to start from scratch. =(

Ok, I'm kinda lost in the details with this tile. I'm gonna leave it as it is. At the moment I'm in a state that I like the cute little details more and more every time I look at them and can't delete anything. This is a wrong state of mind from my design perspective, and instead of getting into the same state tomorrow, I submit the tile for now and won't look at it for a few days.
Just added a TMNT and edited Le'chuck's ship a little. (for example the ship is a part I think I shouldn't be completely happy with, but I just can't delete anything in the last 2 days.)

Gonna revisit the tile if needed according to the neighbours. I'm totally against ignoring future neighbours.

Jal, should I go on with another tile or should I stop and wait for now?

Thought so.  :p

Update:
I really like this version of Anubis.   Almost made of jade.  Somewhat more defined too.   Added a bit more contrast to everything.
Kept the hieroglyphic look on the shaded bricks with a little more definition?
Better?

@ultimaodin, its cool take your time. Hope you get a compy soon :)

@Gecimen , just leave that tile for now and move to the next project or tile. Woeking on more than one tile at the same time is cool too. Don't forget the Weekly Challenges, if you need a collab break :)

@Justincrdibl , this is not a deadline collab. Your tile was worth the wait :)

@dpixel, That's just fantastic!

@dpixel part2, So maybe in your jumping around you ended up with 32 colors as every shade had a near identical color. Fixed it for you on your tile but if you edit your tile you gotta double check your colors (use my siggy link)...and that's not fantastic

updated main pic.

Here's a very early WIP for tile #56. I know that it look raw, but it can give some thought to the nieghboring tiles (which aren't occupied yet).

I know the tower on the back looks smaller, it's not a perspective application. It's smaller on the original too. It may be a bit fatter though.

Here's what I'll do next:
  • The rails will turn to the mouth of the castle, and enter through it
  • Add much more detail and dithering to all over the tile
  • Also add the surrounding environment. The newly added tile #57 gives me a rough idea of what I can do
I can use some constructive feedback, just keep in mind that I'm novice :)

@oke, Just checking...You are taking 29 to make Le'chuck's ghostship? Because its already in 19.

@oke, nvm :)

@kenpokis,
  1. 2:1, 1:1 + 1:0 are all the lines you need. If you find yourself making other lines you are making a curve or not drawing isometric.
  2. Your temple is fine but is still boxy. Iso is always more interesting when you 'break the box'. In my temple edit I started just making a column and then made a box of them on the grid line, so all the columns were even and equally spaced (Your columns have different width because I think you added the columns last). In made the roof last. Then I just added stuff to further break the box.
  3. I think its a good idea to layout your tile roughly so you know what's needed, what's going to be covered and how it will all look. Figure out where the rocks and the stairs from your neighbor's tile will go so your temple placement makes sense. You could spend a long time messing with a detail somewhere and later find it was a waste of time because it ends up covered by a rock or something. Planning first makes life easy :)

Jal's tips are usually divine moments when it comes to iso art. I just can't help myself noticing the two different perspectives of the stairs.

It goes from 1:1 to 2:1, so to fix that, you need a bend or curve somewhere.

Did not see that :/
That's why planning the layout is a good thing to begin with...you need a rock or something to work around that. A statue in that corner would hide even more :D
Abrax who made that tile is not around a lot so it may be smart to work around it.

...added a3um WIP tile + oke's tile + fixed the stairs on my #50... back to rl work 9.9

This is not out of joy, but has there every been a better pixel-collab then this before? If so can anyone share a link? I've seen the ones at Way of the pixel and PJ, and some huge city collabs that Jalonso has contributed heavily, some other city and skyscraper collabs which have some beautiful pieces in them, but none of them matches the current one in terms of integrity and all-over quality. I know it's not random though, it wouldn't be this way if it wasn't for the helpful guys guiding us. Yet still what's the best previous collab you guys have seen?

I think this is the best theme ever for a collab. Ever. Next MUST be a forestish one. That would be amazing for sure.

Forest eh? Awesome idea.

Btw you've got a little edit waiting for you at #66 (the vertical rock on the right side)

Anyone up for another 3-4 tile size something? Not very impressive but maybe it could be center of Ironforge or Millenium Falcon inside the planetoid? Or any other ideas.

@Oke,  I really like your tile, but the girls face was bothering me.  It didn't seem to match the awesome dress.  I made a little edit for maybe another idea.  It seemed like she should be looking down, so my edit is more that way.

We can come up with ideas for another collab when this one reaches the end. One is already in the planning stages and is not iso
I like how this underground theme is coming along...glad we didn't go with Option B: Underwater Rollercoaster

Slow day at the office so I'm tackling the oke/Abrax mix. Statue will be changed when I see what kenpokis is up to(1). Tried to help a3um too...it's an 'AA tile' XD

Ideas ? Advice ?
If you'd like to listen to a noob's advice,-Use some selective outlining.-Show the thickness of the walls inside the archs.-Use some greens/blues-Break the 2nd coloumn from left and add some cracks to the standing parts of the coloumns.-Add some more rubble (e.g. broken parts of the coloumns and wall)-Add snow on the top side of the walls and coloumns.

Ok I'll try to do that. Thanks

Did you see my edit/c+c ?
You have to figure out what you want to do all on your own. We can all help with the technical side of things but you don't want to be kind of artist that has no ideas. Artists without ideas = Dead artist.
While ideas are brewing in your head. You HAVE TO match your neighbor's tile, so for now, figure out the mechanics, the layout and all the boring stuff while thinking.
