I'm working on what will soon be my second finished pixel art ever. I don't think I can direct link the image into this thread from the oekaki site I'm working in, but here's a link to the image's page.

http://2draw.net/view/119833/

So far I've done AA on the far rim of the bowl and a tiny bit around the edge of the crow. I still need it on the near rim of the bowl, the counter, and also the things at the top.

What little AA that I've done so far, is it right? In just the past couple of days I've learned about this thing called banding which is apparently super bad, and I'm trying to not do that.

You can click different thumbnails below the image to see it in different stages of doneness and also you can view an animation of it being made. Later on I'm going to draw clouds in the background and also recolor and draw patterns on the things at the top. I don't know what they're called.

I did a little AA on the counter edge, the top things, and a little more on the beak. I really don't know if I'm doing this right.

edit- I added clouds.

i would only use dithering for transitioning between two areas (for the most part, in these circumstances). I think the bird might look better with solid pixel clusters, all the dithering makes him look grainy

Grainy you say? Like... wood grainy? Because I was hoping it'd make the wood look like it had grain.

OBSERVE!

Maybe if I add a little more dithering it'll balance out. Don't worry, it'll be like homeopathy, but without the dilution.

edit- I don't even like dithering. Also I think I'm done. The crow is really dark though.

Well, crows are :L

Looks better in the final iteration, as cure said you shouldn't dither for the sake of dithering, it should be a more organic thing*. (Our) left foot could be moved further to the left. The rim-lighting on the bowl could be AAd a bit too; being right next to the strong outline is detrimental.

*One good place to AA is between the sky tones, to fake a gradient. Don't just do 50% (checkerboard) dither though; put in some 25%+75% :)
