Hey man, I thought your image was too large so i resized it. The phantom reminded me of arakune from blazblue. And the scar reminded me of baiken from guilty gear. Although I'm only making assumptions. I read the titile which makes me think there will be a tragedy phantom aswell.

I removed some unnessecary colors, and made some shadow edits.

And a recolor:

Yeah man, I was definitely going for an Arakune feel. and you're right in that assumption. I have two in the works. I really like the re shading ideas, that's definitely an area I struggle with, any tips or good tutorials would be much appreciated!

here's version 2, took MacNcheese's shadowing as a reference, replaced red paint mark with cracking of mask. Let me know what ya'll think!



(note I didn't resize the .png so that it is easier for the community to see the scale I made at and to make adjustments, if I should work/upload in a different size please let me know)

Here's a shy guy alternative art I'd like you to take a look at, much better referance than my little quick edit. (Source of artist is at the bottom-right)

What's so great about this is that it slightly resembles the look you're going for. Take a look at the cracks on the mask, at the shading etc.

yeah that mask is magnificent! I'm going less for the idea that it's a robed entity, rather a classic "blanket ghost" idea, so it wouldn't have the depth and layers like that, none-the-less its a good ref. for refining my shading on cloth texture, ANYWAY, here is the updated crack, i think it looks more natural, dosn't abruptly stop
