I drew this pic with the limitations of the Amstrad CPC (4 colours @
320x200). With raster effects you can get more (4 colors per scanline),
so this pic uses 10 colors in total. Since it's meant to be
scrolled on a 320x200 res screen, zoomed in 2x or 3x is closer to how
it would be displayed on a real CPC.
![]() Actually the main difficulty I am having with it is deciding whether it qualifies as pixel art. Both the platform he stands on and the sky are deliberately 'unfinished-looking' -- I intend that look, I don't know whether it's on the pixel level. By contrast both the mountains and character clearly are pixel art. 6 hours, mostly spent redrawing the character. |

absolutely.

It would be defined as pixel art if you laid the peice down pixel by pixel (what is called "pixelpushing"). Mostly that means, every pixel has a purpose.
If you didn't, it would be classified as Oekaki which is more along the lines of a pixelated sketch which isn't necessarily "better" or "worse" Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone, by all means. Edited by Aleiav |
