Hey all im a new member here seems like a nice pixel comunity from what iv seen, anyways ill get to the point, WIP is a game not unlike habbo and coke music, i myself dont realy expect it to be anywhere near as big but its mainly for the experience. it will be called Your Zone its in flash not shockwave, its not my code but we bought the code and a licence. here are some of the avatars and floor tiles which will be in the game, im not shore how manny colours the people are but the tiles use either 4 or 8 colours each (8 colours when the lot are combined) 14 differnt tiles overall so far. i also MIGHT not definatly be wanting another designer to help so post if your intrested in that and ill get back if we do need the extra designer theres only 3 people on the project at the mo and over 1000 image files to go through

what do you all think of my designs? critics welcome.

thought you might already know this place the code seems a bit crap
with their grffixs and so on also i admit its a bit slow but has features
which include useing magic in real time healing (but it doesnt use hp
or anythin like u can blow sum1 up and there avatar goes black, then
they can make it go back 2 normal by healing) and there are
minigames, its www.cowtoon.com

yeah it is very basic grafx, and does feel a little bit slow to use....there is free FUSElight clone called PUSE, but think you will need to know some perl coding to impliment it

Rifts:  That is a very cool set of tiles you've got going.  The male character looks spiffy -- the female needs a little bit more definition, but overall great people.  The tiles look like they need a little more attention so there isn't such an extreme stitch pattern.

I'd certainly be interested in seeing how you plan to use the pixel art with the engine you purchased. I'm not really sure if you are asking for help or not so if you are you might want to clarify what you are looking for.

Keep us posted.

Thanks, ill do some more work on the tiles try and make it look less
like actual tiles and more like an exspansive space.

and i like the way u said the female needs a bit more "definition"
weather u meant it like that or not lol.

if my webspace wasnt down i would show you some screen shots of
the flash file on my computer with the new interface ect, but as it
goes it is down

im not at this particular space in time looking for help however i was
saying that if anyone wanted to help they could say, because it could
be possible in the near future i will need help. mainly i wanted to
know what you peoples thougth of my pixel art and could give me
any advice on how to improve... which you have thanks :)

----------------- EDIT ------------------

hey updateing here my web server is finaly back up and i have found something you might be interested in seeing, the original male avatars i made above where made a while ago before the project was suspended for a while, in the time i made them we also came up with a simple walking demo in flash, the walking frames i personaly hate and im going to redo them, and the interface shown is differnt but not too differnt to the one we will be useing, the graffics on my screen look a bit blury i dont know how they will show on yours but you can at least get an idea of the charicter moveing about :) its an old demo so no use in commenting on the graffics as most are no longer in use.

link to the demo is here... http://www.xaosswebdesign.com/demo.html

The demo looks sharp and it's very easy to move the character about.  The tiles look great!

I hope you don't mind a few crits on the walk cycle...

  • When the character marches diagonally towards us the walk appears a lot like a goose step -- the arms and legs don't bend.
  • The walking diagonally away doesn't look that noticeable, but it still has the swinging limbs feel.
  • When the character walks directly towards us or away from us the legs don't appear to swing back at all. It looks like he's shuffling.

The walk cycle obviously can be as funky as you like it and it doesn't look that bad as it is... I just wanted to throw out a couple things.

thanks sedge but i did say the walk cycle is an old one and a
new one is being worked on but thanks for the comments nether
the less.

and as for the 50 users, it is verry possible to have more, what
you are probably refering to is the free version of cowtoon you
can download which ca have upto 50 people on in one shared
server. however the version of the game we hav bought we will
be useing our own servers and can have allot more people
online (i personaly dont know the limit yet i would have to
check) and it also has allot more features to it :). and anyway
as i stated ages ago i dont expect this to get that big i doubt our
users will exeed 50 users. i see this project more for
experience, i certainly have learnt allot about floor tiles, i could
never get the hang of tiles before, also im learning about
walking frames and stuff.
