Pixel Joint Forum: New Pixeler! Need some critique

So, I recently took an interest in pixeling and could use some critique. I've been mainly making little things, trying to get the shading down, but could use some advice. I'm using graphicsGale, but it doesn't seem to support transparency? Also, can anyone recommend a good animation program?

	Some of the outlines are too strong and the majority of the shading is not clean. I'll post some edits of your work later to show you what I mean.
