![]() I finally got around to trying my hand at pixel art after many years of various mediums and was pushed even further after I came across this site. If you guys/gals wouldn't mind taking a peek and telling me how to improve I would be greatly appreciative. ![]() Edited by Sama3l - 14 July 2013 at 4:42pm |

Doesn't look half bad for someones first try!
![]() There's an edit I had some fun with. I think you relied too much on dithering. You should only really dither when the colors are close enough that you almost cant see the individual pixels when you dither. The reason that is how close they should be is because single pixels dont read as details 3/4s of the time and just look like noise. This is the problem with the flowers they are just single pixels and only look like yellow dots. After messing with the ground I went to the castle and added a perspective to the whole picture and you can see the castle receding into the distance. To do this I also needed to switch the curves on the towers to look like it is being viewed from above. Lastly all I really did was added some aa around some of the picture. I added no new colors and removed a few. |

I had a little trouble with the bottom shades in the ground part so its nice to see your take on it and simplifying it a little bit made it look 10x better. I am still trying to grasp AA and how it effects everything. I'm playing around with another scene at the moment i'll be sure to post up when its taking shape. Thank you for the kind words. Very nice for being new. Just keep practicing and asking lots of questions :) Thank you! And I will be sure too. I have a great grasp on light sources and 3d dynamics already, so getting the fundamentals down will be the biggest task for this. The artwork on this site is incredible. I guess it's time to bust out my tablet again and start sketching. |
