Its been a while but I'm trying to create a sprite with Kingdom Hearts type style. Any tips I'm also having problems with color I think it does seem visible but my WIP the green pants character seems flat.

In the future, try to avoid images that are linked. The reason is that clicking is how we can increase the size of the image to get a better look.
Right now every time you click your image you get taken to a page that has the original. Just a little frustrating is all. As for your sprite, I'm not sure what the question is. It looks a little more like a rip than an inspiration though. What exactly is it about the colors that you're trying to improve? Hit me with some more info and I'll do my best to help. :) |

I'm not sure what you mean by rip. However I'm using the model of sora to create my own character style wise. I thought the color of the pants and hair looks of but I've been starring at my pc so long I'm not sure anymore.

A rip is when you're altering an existing sprite (palette swapping, putting new hair on an old model like a wig, directly following a silhouette, etc.) it's what a lot of people do when they're starting out and learning in order to get better at PA.
What I was saying is that while I don't think you copy/pasted, it looks like you followed Sora's outline heavily enough that you might as well have, so just be careful with that. Even your description of what you did sounds like a rip and that's not REALLY what's done here. Not a bad thing everywhere, just here it's sort of frowned upon. And thank you for changing the image to a non-link. MUCH easier. I see what you mean about the coloring on the hair. There's sort of a big clump up front and then it looks like there's other hair underneath. You need to kind of separate the hair using shading so that falls as it would on a head. The front and the back look fine, it's the middle where it gets sort of amorphous and all over the place. The pants just need a definitive light source. Right now you've got light bouncing all over the place on the hair, then it's coming from the front for the armor plates, then it's coming from above(?) for the pants. Just make sure it's all coming from the same direction and I think that will get you to a better place with this. Good luck! :) |
