Yeah I'm hoping that will hold up with a background as I haven't really tried much with that yet. I fear the low color palette might make it hard to distinguish things.
The one with the blue pants was based on a sprite from a rather old project that me, BrianTheGreat, Larwick and Leel did. (which in turn was based on an even older thing I did) But I wanted to see how far I could push things. So I'm now aiming for 16x9. As in the aspect ratio of most modern screens. And I want it to not be abstract like most similar games, such as the 8x8 mario but actually have graphics that are recognizable and which should mean that the game would be able to be played without any external guide explaining the mechanics and controls.
