Probably you have heard about open x-com project ?

Completely working in 100% reimplementation of original Ufo x-com Defense from 1994.

There is huge community of people who is making mods for the game, and of course all graphics are pixel art in 8 bit palette.

Some of the mods are complete overwhelm of the game actually adding more then 1000% of the original game content. Actually every single part of the game is moddable.
