Hi I am trying to be an artist. This tree is from the tropics, kind of like a banana tree.

Please offer suggestions.

i like the trunk, you need to add lots more contrast on to the leaves.
maybe we shood also see more leaves hanging from the back.
Snark, we love yuu.

I am from the tropics and that looks more like a coconut tree. Check out this link for a reference on banana trees.

You're welcome

Thank you Shark and thank you Makar. From the reference, I guess the trunk isn't very banana-ish. It must be fun to live in the tropics, if it's not too hot and humid.

I will post an update when I get to work on the leaves some more.

Yeah man, living in the tropics is really fun. We have all sort of fruits and stuff and when in the summer we go to rivers and beaches and climb trees...just like monkeys...

You forgot mosquitoes. I also live in the tropics.

Three palm fronds look goofy, add two behind the trunk.

Much better. The only thing i see is there should be a little indent on the very top where the tow side leafs meat to separate them. Other than that it looks really good.

It looks really good but I would try and break up the edges of the leaves a bit. Give them more of a 'frondy' look.

I investigated the problem and it looks like Internet Explorer doesn't like palettized PNG images.

I don't believe that's the problem. I downloaded it and it won't show up in any of my image viewing apps.

I personally think this looks good...but it looks like a combination of 2 trees: a banana tree because of the leaves and a coconut tree because of the trunk.

If you notice check out this example(  http://artoftravelworldwide.com/picture_gallery/Phulay%20Bea ch%20Krabi_Aprime%20Resort/Beach%2002.JPG  )you will notice that a plam tree has lots and lots of small leaves and the trunk is not so curved.

A banana tree on the other hand, ( http://www.defdesigns.com/P9300067%20Banana%20Tree.jpg ) does have big leaves. The ones on the picture look like separate because the are so fragile that they tear easily.

I'm not saying your tree isn't good. I like it a lot, but I'm just pointing out the diferences between a coconut tree and a banana tree. Thanks.

Ever tried putting sel-out on it? may help out the quality a bit, because it seems the outline is quite dark on the leaf
