I am working on a character for a game I am doing with a friend and I would love some feedback to improve it!

The main problem with these sprites are the poses. They look quite awkward, and your shading is implying the wrong idea several times(for instance, in the first sprite, he looks like he is bending his arm backwards). Furthermore, the legs seem unnaturally long, and there are no feet(that last one may be a stylistic thing, though). The general appearance is good, but it still needs work.

Thanks for the feedback @Zubb! Could you clarify for me a few more instances in where the lighting isn't working? I see what you mean about the arm in the first image, but I am having trouble identifying other problems. I felt good about the legs and neck but am unsure about the arms and torso.

Also if you don't mind could you explain in a little more detail about how the poses feel awkward? Is it a problem with the distribution of weight, or maybe just the anatomy? I would really appreciate the insight!

I did like how the legs were looking before(in regards to the form), but the more I work on it I feel less attached to the stylization. I'm afraid I am staying to attached to something that is hurting the design.

The main problem about your lighting is that it doesn't convey much depth. In your style, objects should get lighter as they approach the camera. However, in a lot of yours, you apply this too much, making his right arm look more far back than it really is. The arm in the staff-holding pose has too little sharpness to it, making the joint look rubbery. Along with the legs being really long, the hips are too wide, which is what I think is giving the pose most of its weirdness.

Here is some progress.

I first looked at the height proportion in comparison with the original sprite. Then I made the hips a little less wide and then shortened the character as well. Overall I think it is looking better! Let me know what you think.
