Hey guys.
So as a post mortem from the challenge, I'd like to get some input. During its course, I, too, was trying to make a bossman for the challenge. However, not feeling confident with using that palette, and not having a solid idea just yet, I decided I'd get some practice by "fixing" the pre-existing profiles. So I did, and as I fixed each one, I learned a little more about the palette, and potential relationships between colors, enough to finally start working on mine...at the literal last minute. (Didn't make it). However, with the challenge over, my practice was not, and after I finished my boss, I went back to editing, but I've since then reached a crossroad as to whether or not I should continue. Before I go on, here's what I got so far. The ones that show longer are my edits, while the others are the original. ![]() ![]() Since they look good, though, I feel as if any changes I make would not only not add up to be meritable for an addition to the final product, but they stand to make them worse. So my question is, "Should I add them to final product?" I wanted to post this on my gallery when I've finished, but I'm not sure about the last two rows, or any of it honestly, since I'm basically re-shading. If that is enough to allow the addition, should I go on with it? Thanks for the help. P.S. Oh, if you look closely, you'll see some question marks on some of them. They signify that I did my best at fixing them, but I still think they look bad. If you could offer tips to fix them that'd be great too. |

Some originals are better in some way. I.e. your new Metal Man is less contrast, has banding and pillow-shade speculars; while Dive Man has ugly dithering and its face has some noise.

Those are exactly two of them I had so much trouble with. I just lost it on metal man: could not think of a better way to do him, but knew something had to change. As for Dive man: banding?! Where have I committed such a sin?! I won't deny I did, but where?!

Others have their problems too (mostly contrast reduction and stylistic inconsistency), like Crystal Man, whose crystal ball completely lost its emphasis. But I'm just too lazy to properly criticize them. Originally posted by AirStyle As for Dive man: banding?! Where have I committed such a sin?! I won't deny I did, but where?! On the '!' shaped wing of its helmet. Anyway, I'm not a Mega Man fan, never ever played a single game, so I'm not a person to criticize it. Although I guess original artist(s) had comic book style in mind, with less shading. |
