Okay, this isn't really so much a WIP as a place to chuck an idea that I'm never gonna do anything with. I'm not a programmer. I've looked into it, and decided quite quickly that I suck. I pressed on anyhow, and discovered that my initial reaction was correct. I suck. SO. I don't program. BUT. I have a decent (in my opinion) idea for a game that I'm never gonna do anything with, but I'd LOVE to play. It goes like this. You're a hunter. You've got your straw hut, a little knife, and the will to survive. To survive, your ass needs food, and probably some water. You live in the middle of nowhere, no civilization is near you. You've got to go out and explore warcraft-style (fog of war), coming across trees that may or may not contain some fruit, the occasional pond, dragon-harboring caves and many other potential unseen hazards and treasures. It would be RPG style. Kills gain your character experience that he/she could distribute between weapon styles, or projectile weapon...accuracy or health or inventiveness or a plethora of other things. There would be advancement, and plenty of it. No levels. Levels are lame. Simply unrecorded skill gains. Maybe. There would be nature. Trees could die and/or grow. Fields could be planted. Towns of cannibals could start and grow like disease, and you'd have to hope you come across them while they're small. You could build bigger and better houses. Rescue said cannibals and train them to do things, tame wild dogs and train them to hunt rabbit for you. Invent things, such as a hammock and armour and... and... newer weaponry. Dragons would leave their caves from time to time (Leaving weaker, backup dragons, of course) to go accumulate more loot. Which you could try pilfer, if you're crazy enough to eat fire. And fang. And claw. Massive enemies, such as dragons and cannibal lords would themselves advance in time. They could also kill things that come near them, and grow in awesome, making them more formidable opponents. Magic probably wouldn't factor in. Maybe some crazy hermit-druid somewhere in the middle of nowherecamp that you could find would provide seeds and magical enchantments or something. 'nuff yammering. I did a quick (hence the terrible) mash-together of ideas. The map would be huge and scroll like a monkey, only to eventually loop, like the world does. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/SaboteurGreg/2b348a15.g if (Eww. .jpg masticated the hell outta it.((FIXED))) It's terrible, I know, but I took the liberty of labelling things for ye ;) Now, what I need to know is is this even possible? And am I crazy to think this is a good idea? ...figured it would be cool if I came up with a seemingly new genre of game... or more likely a mash-together of everything from harvest moon to warcraft. And as a final note, if for some odd reason somebody actually wants to make this as a game, I will not be able to be part of production, even if you wanted me to be. I'm too busy with other commitments at the moooment, though I would be willing to be around to give more ideas and image to the game. (Hoooly, sab, STOP TYPING) Kay, fine, conscience. I'm done. ...happy? Edited by Saboteur |
