Hello there,

its been a while since I made anything, but Im back to the grinder.

Heres the latest little guy.

Wouldnt mind some advice on it ? How can I make it more interesting ?

I am also always a little bit shy on the color, I am afraid to make a mess so I tend to stay with a very dark palette without much contrast. How could I improve that I wonder, Ive read articles about color theory, but doesnt seem to tick for me yet.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to look at my piece.

cheers

@dhaimadoshi; Here is a quick sample (I spent 10-15 minutes on it) how it can look with a little more shine, shadow (I only used your dark color for it but I added it in some places to better capture the depth and better distinguish the shapes) and backlight. I added a few more colors (white, red, 2 blue and I think 2 lighter gray colors). You figure out which one you like better.

EDIT: I'm a little exaggerated in shines and backlights, but you can find some way in the middle to add your character a bit more life.

Oh very nice indeed, I didnt think about secondary light as I was too focused on the one I was working witg ^^

I get it now Thanks !

Although another question pops in mind. I intent this (actually this i just a prototype, just to test my skills beforehand) to be used in a game, and as far as I know I should be careful with the backlighting as things else I limit the use I can have form my enemy.

What is your take on this ?

Visibility is always important in games, keep that in mind when doing characters and the environment. Don't blend your characters (unless intentionally) into the background. The characters should pop up from the background. So, less saturated, simpler environment or more colorful characters.
EDIT: you don't need to do backlight on your characters (enemies). But add stronger shine when you have some metal object, bold shadows or lines around the characters. Play with it... My advice, put a background under the character you're working on so you can have some guidelines how will it work together.
