Hi there! What are the walls made from? Gold or are they stone? also, the ground is sand? I'm not entirely sure what the little curved things are. Could you explain that to me?

Your stairs and interior floor look good. I might add a shadow at the bottom of the upward stairs, so they look a little more grounded.

Also, just curious, but what does the player character look like?

Best of luck!

They're some kind of sandstone and those are dunes. I don't have a player character just yet! Thanks for the crits.

I made some improvements to the base of the tower.

The dunes look better, but maybe make them triangular instead of curved? They look like hay bales to me. Also, I like the building concept, but as of right now, the building looks shiny, like it's made of gold. Try making the yellow less saturated maybe? And less contrast between the brightest and darkest colors. The texture on the sandstone blocks looks unlike stone to me. Try looking at some old sprites of stone and imitating the textures... like this one maybe? https://www.spriters-resource.com/fullview/70665/

I know they are grey and round, but imagine them tan and square. A lot of people will do pixel art of stone with cracks in it. It's very effective.

My cracks weren't as nice as I hoped, but this is the general idea. Also played with a different sand texture, and that's about what I was imagining for a dune.

I desaturated some colors and brightened several.

I got around to making the character. I animated him a bit but here's a still. The sand dunes idea worked out decently. I'm not sure how to change the contrast. I'm just using the default GraphicsGale palette and don't know how to change it lol. I'm used to Aseprite.

This is how the outside is looking. I changed the dunes to rock formations.

Love the rocks! the texture of the rocky ground tiles is pretty nice too. I don't know how to use graphicsgale unfortunately, but you really should learn how to adjust it. If not for this scene, for another. Still looks like a golden building to me.

Cute little guy.

It's cool if there is some gold in the building, it's a tower to heaven.

That's the new interior. I think I'm just about done with this part.

Is it like the tower of Babble? :)

I like this a lot. I think the tiles in the center have a nice texture, but I don't like those two colors together for some reason. Maybe experiment a little with the color combo?

Yep, it's a Tower of Babel game. Thanks for the tip. I'll keep experimenting with this. One thing I'd love to learn is making my own palettes. I'm sticking with a palette someone else created right now.

I took your advice on the floor. The palette doesn't have any greys so I just did the stairs outside the palette.

Since I'm using the greys I changed the rocks outside too.

Love what you did with the rocks! This is a fantastic way to draw stone if you are still interested in drawing stone blocks: https://www.deviantart.com/orkimides/art/stone-restriction-112277599

I could not find it earlier.
