I've been working on my first pixel art, and I can't for the life of me keep the leaves from getting lost in other leaves. Think I'm just struggling to not use borders on the leaves and to get a sense of depth with the colors to where the leaves look seperate from one another. If someone could explain how to do that, it would be very helpful! Thanks

I like the dithering of the pot itself, but I must note that there appears to be two different light sources, one coming from the right and one coming from the top. Which is fine how ever the leaves aren't showing that there's a light source to the right.
Also Im not sure how to solve your issue, I wouldnt outline the leaves though. Id maybe use a gradient of darker to lighter colors to show depth |
