Using the fun concept generator thing I got: An angry creatures hammers a dinosaur on a water lily.

EDIT: Now it's going to be a game concept.

Creature:

Scene:

Nothing too fancy but it's mainly for fun. I don't expect this to be a full fledged game. I'm still open for critiques of course.

Okay scratch that concept.

I've decided to do it like a game (to jump on the mockup/game graphic bandwagon we've got going on here).

I'm going to have the creature run up to the dinosaur and conk it on the head eventually, with a hammar, in an animation and game/like thingy.

But first, before I go into the backgrounds and whatnot here's my little creature.

I've decided to not give him a mouth. His eye looks screwed up to me but I'm not sure how to fix it. >_<

I'm pretty excited about this. :) I've always wanted to do a mockup type of thing but I've never had any good ideas. :D

sooo, suggestions?

EDIT: I've made the creature WALK!

But it DOES look a bit weird becuase it looks like his hands and feet are moving but he's not moving. Not sure how to fix that. Maybe moving his eye? Or maybe moving some of the points of the hairball? :P

EDIT 2: I've improved the walking thanks to crits on PJ IRC from orbofwisdom w00t!

:D

Why not add a bit of rotation? it would make the walk alot more walk like. and lift the characters feet. Generally 3 frame walks aren't all that great.
Pretty cool character. i might do an edit if i get bored enough

Lol the walking animation is nifty. I think the actual sprite however, needs more contrast so the details stand out. At the moment it's very dark all over, and the eye is just a white dot for me. Also perhaps the legs could go back and forward one frame more (off the ground) as he seems to be sliding.

I still a have to say the arms look stiff. They MOVE but they don't BEND. Also, a highlight color might help it look more interesting.

RPG is numberwang.

@ Akira: It's actually a 4 frame walk :P But the feet should be lifted more, you're right. Right now it looks like a bit of a moonwalk, yes? I'm really not sure how I can do some rotation aside from maybe moving his eye over, but I'm afraid that'll make it look like he's jittery from cocaine or something. If you could do an edit and show how I might make it rotate more, that'd be cool.

@ Larwick: it looks really dark? damn monitors. I'll up the contrast and lighting a tad. :) It'd probably make him look more like a fur ball and less like a piece of poo. :P

@ Monkey: Aaaah, now I get what you mean. I didn't before, cause I have the bendy but they are still stiff. I'll also work on that. :) I have a highlight color but I don't think it contrasts enough. :P

@ Carp: Oh noez. :P Well, I'll be updating soon hopefully with the hammaring animation, so then it may make sense. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the crits guys. :)

I used this tutorial to learn how to do the walking animations, fyi. For all those who were just as confused as I was when attempting walking animation. :P

So I tried to edit the walk... he came out looking really odd.

Original:

New:

I like the new contrast, but I like the bent arm much better. It's just less ambigious. and weird looking.

But I'd still appreciate thought/edits/further explanations, etc.

His knees aren't bending, this is why it looks weird.
The left hand flashes once infront of his face and so it looks strange.

His knees are bending, it's just hard to see when it goes that fast.

Maybe they're not bending, enough? Maybe I've made the shoes too big?

The hand flashing out looks less awkward when the other arm is bent. When the arm is more curved, I've no way of working in the other hand without making it look weird. Another reason why I liked the bended arm more. He has more of a twist look with the bent arm.

Oookay, I've updated the walk/run animation.

It's a bit weird but I think at least he does look like he's walking/running rather than doing a foreward moonwalk.

I like the stiff arms better than wiggly ones, but I've gotten some crits about the hands. I'm not sure if I'm going to make the hands any bigger/more detailed. We'll see when I do the hammar animation, which I'm going to do soon.

It looks a bit weird because the shoulder and arm are bending unnaturally... I think.

Whee! I like those screens and love the concept. Rather be furryball hammering little lizards then some shiny knight slashing zombies or whatsoevers any day.

Animation of your character is oddly clumsy & edgy but seeing it on the "screen" makes it only look sympathic. Great.

Not now honey, I have a deadline.

ha ha! Yours is more convincing than mine. :P XD

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I don't really feel like I love the character enough to do a lot of the extensive spriting animations for a possible game. But this is definately my first type of mockup/game attempt so it's good practice methinks.
