There have been a few posts about new PJ smilies in the Diversions board, so I figured a whole new topic about them would be more appropriate.

To start off, here are all of the current smilies:

These should be replaced, but of course, new smilie concepts are always welcome.

Step 1: Brainstorming
Pie posted some great smilies in the Diversions board, and here they are:

Whilst these look fantastic, I'm sure there are many other ideas worth contemplating before we expand on a single style of smilies.

Let's come up with a few different ideas for smilie types, and choose one or two sets to work on in more detail. Pixelation is also making new smilies for their forums, so look at what the people have done there if you need some inspiration (don't forget to give credit where credit is needed though!).

Post your ideas and get working!

E: jal, changed PB to Pie ;)

I'm going to take the first post to say that I think PJ has awesome smileys that need no revisions or updating (cept for kissy).

In a way, I do agree with you Jalonso: the current smilies are great, but even the greatest of smilies get old after a while.

I'm going to take Pixelation as an example once again - their current smilies are fantastic in every way, in my opinion. But they decided to create a new set, just because it is a new set.
Their new set might not end up being as great as the original, but a little change is nice from time to time!

Not if it's a change for the worse, what kind of logic is that?

Anyway, I'm with jal on this. PJ has changed enough in the last year or so, these smileys remind me of the good ol' days when the OTT was but a babe.

As starter from the idea to change the smileys:

They look pretty standard, and do not have that much to do with PA as well..
And I think that you could have way better smileys, since there are artists in this place who have awesome skills.. And skills improve as well. I really think the new ones pie made by example are way better than those whe have now (also made by pie).. And yes, alot of the expressions are very cool, but they are a bit larger than the text, witch changes the size of the lines, and the colors could be less grey as well.. and I think that if you ask every1 to make a new smileyset, there will come a much better one..

I dont know much of the changes on PJ, since im a new member (februari I think it was that I joined), but I think those changes where made because the new things where better than the old things.. It all happens with a reason.. and since these smileys can be better, why dont we change? Those good old days cant be so important.. and if they are, im shure you can remember them without help of the smileys..

I say we open a poll voting, about if we do or do not want a new smileypack..

All that I ask is no one make them any bigger. I hate huge smilies.

I've always thought a few pixels smaller would be nice, so when you used them in a big paragraph they wouldn't upset the line spacing.

RPG is numberwang.

The smileys at the moment are cool. But pie's are somehow better , just you cant really see the facial features.

Square smiles to represent pixels?
I liked the ones dumbo made.
Smaller ones would be nice. Readability an issue though.

I like dumbo's smilies, personally. They represent PJ.
