Well, i was wondering, is it possible to shade a small sprite like this so it looks like a 3-d render?

Heres the sprite, go nuts!

Note: As most of you already know, i know im new here, but i hope to become alot more active, so dont let my join date and number of posts turn you off!

If by 'the new mario sprites' you mean the ones in Mario vs. Donkey Kong or New Super Mario Bros... they look like 3D renders because they are.

Manual pixel-by-pixel shading really wouldn't look all that different from the calculated shading that 3D renderers do. A 3D render would only have more colours and possibly be a bit more accurate, but at this size it really wouldn't matter.

Hmm.. i see.

Than can anyone give it some depth, or some more intense lights and darks?

Why not try to do it yourself? No offense, but this really doesn't look like a real collaboration to me. More like something you want for yourself.
You can post this in the WIP forum (or I can move this thread there if you'd like). There are plenty of people willing to help you get the result you want.
