Don't try to AA when you have a black outline... It only makes everything look blurry, not smooth.

There's really no depth to it at all which I think is bothering me.  The fret board doesn't seem too bad itself but I don't like the head or body of it.

I don't understand your lighting. It's inconsistent. Where is the light source meant to be?

Also, why is there an outline around the inside of the body? Is there meant to be a black line there, actually as a part of the guitar's design? Otherwise, it shouldn't be there and destroys the effect of the lighting.

Either that or you'd have to be going for a comic-style cel-shaded sort of thing, but you're not doing that since the black lines don't extend out along the edges of the embossed area.

the black outline on the inside is meant to be there, yes
and as far as the shading on the outside i used this

as my main reference for it.. so i think its pretty good.. there's a few parts that i need to fix but the shading i got from that. other than that i havent really shaded anything.. just the edges

you didnt use exactly the same light, and that makes your version weird, and I dont think this thing has a very good light source as well..

Don't AA onto a white background, make the background a neutral colour for now (don't AA to it) and work on your shading. It'll be much easier to do so on a neutral background. :)

GOod luckle.
