I did a lot more shading on  it and i followed the Zippo pic.

Oh, no, no, no.
Its just a gradient! Its NOT shading, and is a big no-no in pixel art.
Its also too simplistic! Add detail.
Here is how I would do it. I added:
Lightsource (Topright)
Curvature
AA
 
Study this, and try again.
