Hey, I have never pixeled before so Im desperatly looking for tips and/or advice!
So if you have the time, please take a minute to help me out. Not only specificly on the thingy below, but on pixelart in general.
I've seen so much beautifull art (at pixeljoint too) and I really wanna learn the art of pixeling!

This stuff is a try out for a game I want to make. (As I said my first attempt at pixeling so yeah it sucks).

Im a (relatively beginning) traditional animator so this is a concept animation I drew (has nothing to do with the pixel art itself just felt like including it so you would get a better image)

It would be great if you guys could give some tips or advice, not only on this try out, but also in general, how did you guys get where you are?
I really really wanna learn this beautifull art :)

Thanks a lot!

Maarten

Hi Maarten,

Welcome to Pixeljoint!

Great Start!

Animation really rocks! There are some issues with maintaining
consistency on the windows .. carnose.
The legs are a bit too jumpy in relation to the arm movements.

Regarding the pixels:
You should tidy up the lineart before shading since a lot is looking
too scribly.
Also search for AA to get clues how to smoothen the linart.
The road can be a bit more divers by including shading.
Also some dirt/track marks can give depth to the road. I like
the safety ramp! Just but a few little dents in it to make it
more attractive.

Looking very much forward to completion of that awesome
animation!

Best regards from

Thanks a lot! And yeah, I really hate the spacing of the legs haha, but Im not sure wether im gonna redo it since it was just a practice.
What do you mean with tidy up the line art and that its too scribly? And whats AA? (Haha Im really sorry I really AM a noob at this)
I indeed thinks the road looks a little plain.
Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it!

Hi Maarten,

The line is jagged.  Sometimes you have real thick line
made of several pixels that makes the outline quite harsh.
You can use AA to smoothen the lines.

Please scan this thread for AA and other strange pixel terms

Good luck!
