I used a photo referance and I didn't think it was tall it all. One pixel taller and it'll look like the Xbox.

The two screened handheld thing seems like it needs to show a joint there... I can't really tell that its not a flat peice.

Also, the gamecube is biggest, but really I'm pretty sure it is by far the smallest of those systems.

And what is the thing that says xbox on it? Other than that, good job. Its amazing how you can work on such a small scale.

You can't tell there is a joint? I don't see how I can make it any more clear...

I know the GameCube is smallest, but I wasn't sure how to go about that... The person who I am making these icons for gave me the specific attributes of 32 x 32 and I didn't feel like making a 16 x 16 GameCube would satisfy him.

The Xbox thing is the Xenon, or Xbox 2, it's an artist's concept from a couple of years ago. It's not obvious that it's the Xbox 2, so I'm going to go about making Xbox 2 and PS3 (text) in Isometric format.

These look really good Dejital.  The handheld section is very strong.  The only suggestion I can think of is to bump up the contrast a bit so it's easier to see. Maybe use some light lines on the interior edges to make the form more defined.

Well, I added the PSP, even though it's one of the older ones.
I feel very bad just looking at it because I could not do anything with it.
The PSP is so bland and colorless that it's just not that fun to look at... nor is it to pixel.

Your PSP needs serious work. Comparison:

As you can see, your PSP is far too round. The real PSP is very long. The screen is a 16:9 ratio and yours looks like a 4:3. Outlines are also a problem (Check my response to your pixelerate thread).

No offence but that just doesnt make any sense. All the other icons look like what they are supposed to be and are proportioned properly. Surely there should be a consistent standard for all the icons.

And did he not ask for C&C? Sorry if I dont just turn up and start kissing ass, but when someone asks me for C&C I give C&C.

Basicaly what your saying is that he shouldnt improve it because its "good enough". If everyone thought that way we would be living in a very sad world...

No, its not supposed to be "pixel perfect", but why not point out things he may have missed? Is there any harm in improving it? Thought not. :P

And I don't think he posted here to have people tell him they're good, even though they are. He posted to get help, so I hope he was prepared for some commentary; So you guys, don't take offense, its not meant to be offensive. Its helpful.

I'm not insulted in any way, Monkey Man. I posted here for help.

I did not notice that the screen was not wide enough, many thanks for pointing that out. I still need to find a good palette, though, because the colours are not very pleasing to my eye at all.

@ stryder:

I didnt say it wasnt good. I like all the icons (Except the "Other" category).

Its constructive critiscism. Do you not strive to improve yourself? If you just stick with things because its "good enough" then you will never reach the peak of the pixel art form.

If someone posts the phrase "C&C" in their thread, it means that they want critiscism. Sure, ass kissing and praise are nice, but they dont help you improve.

So its great that you love it, I love it too. But that doesnt mean there's not room for improvement.

P.S. Heres my post from your thread at Pixelerate. I dont know if you checked back over there at the replies (Their email notification does work btw)

The cell phone does look bad. It has almost no detail, especialy in the keypad area. At the moment it just looks like a speaker grille. You should make it bigger, it is an icon after all so it doesnt have to be to scale with the others...

The PS2 is too thin, or too long, depending on how you look at it.

The PS1 and PS1 mini have their CD-Trays screwed up. They should be round not oval, and they do not touch the back of the machine. (There is a little hinge at the back, but the round cover itself does not go back that far).

The N64 is ok, you have the basic shape down but you need to add shading to the top to emphasize the fact that the slope goes all the way to the back of the unit.

I dont care for the outlines of most of the icons, you did it best (but not perfect) with the GBA, because you used the same tone as the icon, but there shouldnt be a continuous line around it. You need to define the edges with the light source, not a border.

All the other icons have black outlines, which is bad. Again, use lightsource not borders.

I dont care for any of the "Other" Icons. They are not up to the standard of your console icons.

These might be of interest. They are from the gamespot site:
PS2
XBox
GameCube
PSP
DS
GBA
NGE

I actualy prefer most of your icons over the gamespot ones.

Sorry I couldnt embed them, the server has some anti-leech measures in place.

I looked at some of those for ideas, but... They are all resized and autoaa'd. Not even pixel art.

All the handhelds looks good. You did a good job with the DS. The gba looks a bit out of proportion but I can understand because of the size you had to work with. The consoles look a bit strange. The n64 look's the best out of em' all I think.

Did you take a look at these?

I'm going to take a crack at drawing some systems. I've only drawn game cartridges and stuff...
