![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'd like to know what people think about this picture, and their thoughts how to improve it. It's pretty much dithe-raped. Outlines need to be improved, I just don't know how to make them look good. >_> 10 colors used. Hello there, and yes we actually do care about the number of colors used,

![]() Alright, it actually looks like a mushroom now. Even though now its awfully too 2D-looking. :] I hope someone would give some advice at coloring the outlines, since pure black and dark green / dark gray looks pretty boring... ![]() And hello there greenraven. :p Still accepting helpful advices. :) |

I really think the dither is hurting this piece. I'd pull it off entirely.

I have to agree with Hatch, go with smooth shading :)
If you want it to look more 3D, try moving your lightsource somewhere else. I did a quick edit to show what I mean (note that it's not very accurate but should still get my meaning across):
![]() I also changed the colours a bit and removed the outline (not really necessary to do this, I just felt like fiddling). I believe a black outline would work well too so it's really up to you to decide.
As to the design - it's really cute, I like it.

Yes- much better. I say get rid of the "Meep" text. As for colors, make the darkest green a little more blue and the stem yellowish.

Started another project (more like filled a boring 30 minutes), it's a small black/white city scene. If you consider a little part of street, a half of a building and one lamp post as a city. 5 colors used.

The mushroom looks much better than it did at the start but still needs some work. Your lightsource seems to be different in the stem versus how it is in the lower and upper parts of the cap. The rim area of the cap seems shaded best, whereas the top and the stem are just vaguely given light and dark areas. Split the 'shroom into basic geometric shapes and shade, roughly, accordingly; the cap is a cone on a torus, and the stem is a cylinder or cut-off cone with a semisphere on the end. After shading those shapes, you just have to merge them together and tweak based on the more subtle shaping you have in mind.
