Hello everyone. I've been working on an Amiga platform game based around a Halloween theme. At the moment we're sticking to a 16 colour palette, and a friend is helping out with pixelling some of the graphics but we're running short on time because I want to try and release a demo of the game before Halloween (October 31st).
If anyone would like to have a go helping out, I can credit you in the game and you'll get a free copy of course when it's finished. And if we make any money from the game, you'll receive a share of that too. What needs to be fixed most of all is the main character sprite. She needs to be animated to run and crawl, and her cape needs to be fixed up in her climbing animation. The enemies need to be animated too, and if anyone wants to touch up or edit any of the sprites or tiles, or even make some new ones I'd really love it! Here are the sprite and tile sheets from the game so far, as well as the palette we're using for this level (the Graveyard). ![]() ![]() ![]() And remember, even if you don't have a real Amiga and you would like to play the game, it runs happily in an Amiga emulator on a PC, PS3, Mac, or anything else that can run UAE. Thanks! |

I think this should be in the Jobs section?

I posted in there, but I'm not sure if you'd consider it a job, I'm just a girl with an Amiga who wants to make a fun game, but I'm no good at pixelling. I'm trying my best, and so is my friend, but it still looks pretty amature, so I thought maybe if someone wanted to edit the sprites or give some suggestions, they could.

If you tend to make money with it and pay the contributors, it's considered a job offering. Then again, if you want one or more persons to help YOU out, it's still considered a job.
If you want everyone to join and submit whatever they want, then it's called a collab. @admins: If anything I said was wrong, don't feel bad to correct me |

It's still considered a job even if it's for free, an [unpaid] to be more exact.
And best of luck with it. ![]() |

Okay thanks, you can delete this thread if it offends people so much, and I guess I'll just hope that someone looks in the job section. I didn't mean to start any fights, and I don't want any money for the game, but if money is the only thing that will pursuade someone to help out then I suppose I'm out of luck.
Sorry. Edited by Cammy - 24 October 2007 at 11:33am |

Money isn't the only thing that can get people to help you out, but it helps.
![]() I'd help you out, really I would, but I've got my hands full with my own stuff. I'm sure that there has to be someone out there that has some spare time and is generous to work for free. Just wait. |

This seems like an interesting project. Why only 16 colours? The only reason to limit colours to 16 in the past was on .5 meg chip ram systems with no fast ram.
Your sprites do not look that bad, but the motion is very stiff. I do not know if a lot more movement is possible, since collision detection may look flakey if she sways from side to side as she runs. I cannot help much, but if you need some help, I should be able to offer a bit. I may even find I can work at full speed on DPaint or PPaint after all these years. If I can work at full speed, and have control of the palette, I may be able to push out all the graphics for a short game in a few days. I miss Dpaint. A 16 frame animation for the Web (I used PPaint to encode the Gif, and add the per frame timing via jiffies) would take me a couple of hours. Animation production on the PC and Mac is pedestrian by comparison. |
