Hello Poine,

Welcome to P.J.

Please be a little patient when asking for comments.
Also, it is a bit strange that you have a Work in Progress,
and you filed it in your gallery as well... Usually you put
something in the gallery that has gone through some WIP
stages...

About the C&C:

One thing that comes to mind is References. Use a reference
as a guidance. It is not recommended that you trace an image,
but it can be helpfull as long as you state your references.
It will help you much more if you look closely and try to immitate
the reference. In case you don't find a reference, you can always
take a (digital)picture of someone or yourself in this pose.
I like the background!

Good luck in finding a reference!

Best regards from

M.E.

I think it's a basic anatomy problem with this one. I'm making a general assumption that it's a human/oid in a scary mask or with a scary face, holding a knife. Basically, the problem is in the shoulders, or possibly in the hand- the two don't quite fit together. The arm is way too short for those shoulders. What you've got is a slightly-bent-toward-the-viewer arm, when your character has an arm that's at least four times as long as that- and given that head size, and the fact that this character is definitely a little bit menacing, you should probably beef up that hand a bit as well. Here's a twenty-five second edit set.

Also, there's a bit of an issue with the knife's contrast. Namely, there isn't enough. I'd assume that the knife is the important bit- boost the shine! Make that knife glitter! Or make his face shine! Something.

Anyway, I love this style. Good luck.

The problem I see with this is that a lot of the shading seems pillowshading, not actual shading. I'm not excellent at lightsources, so hopefully someone with more expertise can come in here and give you an idea on how to approach this.

Both arms are behind him, as far as I can tell, and that's throwing the balance off. If HIS right arm was in front of his hips/torso, it'd make sense that his knife-wielding hand is behind him in the shadows. It would also make sense that his whole coat is swooshed to the knife wielding hand, too.
