I bumped into this piece by Cthulhu... http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/33956.htm So I thought it would be a really cool idea to make a huge PJ group project. It will be 32x32 Squares. You pick one of the 34x34 boxes, and fill it in..The inside is 32x32. You can decorate the black boarders how ever you like..or you can leave it black and fill in the inside... You can use multiple boxes to make a spread out piece, like 4 or 5 boxes to show a big picture.. Try not to be greedy and share with others. No restrictions. You can pixel ANYTHING your heart desires! But please make sure it attempts to match the color of the square. If you don't know where to put your picture, just post it, and I will find a place that makes it work well. I'll start ..... Just post your images and say which blocks you want them in. Example, mine is in M14. Lets see what you guys can come up with! BLUR YOUR EYES! It helps to see the image better. Edited by FlyGuy - 28 July 2009 at 6:20am

If you want to get something like what Cthulhu did I would suggest making the bigger image first (such as how his images all combined together to form eyes) Once you've made the bigger picture, assign each square a particular colour, then the person pixelling it has to keep that square predominantly that colour. Personally, doing it that way seems to make more sense.

Well then we will call this a collage...Because I looked at his and didn't see a bigger picture. The only thing capable of creating a picture out of a bunch of little ones so well is a computer program.

You should have a template square, the descripition of the canvas makes it hard to see whether the black line is part of it or how much of the border you can use.
plus- 1024 squares is a bit ambitious isnt it? Ill still have ago though.

This might turn out kinda cool. If at the end someone categorized each part by colour or luminance, then positioned them all into some kind of image (with each part being a pixel). A general palette may have been a good idea though.

That was my thought process on this Lar. Because it's really the first one PJ has done, I thought it might be a good idea to keep it simple. Just a big quilt looking thing, like how the old women use to do in the 1800's with little pictures that made a whole quilt. Please post pictures guys! I am at work, but when I get home I will start putting them into the full picture. I will also make an outline of some form of shape or design and color code them so people can start adding to make a big picture. I think I will do a rainbow, since it is simple and uses all colors, therefor not restricting everyone to use JUST yellow if we did a big yellow smiley face or something.

I'll be home in about 2 hours.

Oh btw, here is an idea folks. If you know you picked a piece like "B-3" for instance, and it is blue surrounded by white on 2 edges like that. You can make your square partly white, and partly blue, so that it kind of blends better when you blur your eyes. Notice how the smurf's hat is closer to the cloud, than his blue face, which is touching the all blue sky. If we can all do stuff like this, it might come out a lot smoother looking than anticipated! Sweet! Thanks for taking the initiative on this, FlyGuy. I've been wanting to start something like this, but as of late have had neither the time nor the attention span to get started.   EDIT: Guess I should post a pixel! A chrome Scirocco for C13 Edited by cthulhu - 18 July 2008 at 10:29pm

Also nice pixel, you captured exactly what I posted last about how you want to make the picture blend with the colors near it. This is gonna be awesome! I want to see more!!

EDIT: oh i get it now 34x34 (Sorry, I posted on Grandmamoses account, thats my room mate he was still logged in) here is what I posted... Well you don't HAVE to do the lines when you submit your tiles. It is optional, so I will put in the version of your pill with no lines. Maybe in the end I will remove all the lines from this completely just to see the difference. Good idea though with 4 tiles at once, I think I might do this too!

It would certaintly fill up the grid quickly, although it would pretty much turn into a 'war' themed mosaic. edit: ok I quickly added some borders. Up to you if you decide to use them. Honestly I'm not sure where you'd put the sword image though, since it's pretty much a mixture of every colour... Edited by skamocore - 28 July 2008 at 11:34pm
