yeah, it didn't have that green to start with. it actually had black, but i changed it to a lighter color to add more contrast

Ah, i've been meaning to make some sort of spaceship, but i havent had the incentive to yet. Well i suppose here it is, i'll put it up when i'm done!

here is the ship with the main engines lit. The ship isn't really top down the camera is tilted toward to back. I wanted to prictice three d pixel so i made it. huh... it doesn't seem to want to animate... anyway...try this if you want to see it http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/9109/spped8on.gif hmm that dosen't work either... any one have any tips for posting on ImageShack? The problem is that you didn't loop the animation. It does play, but only once.

Well here are some that i like to go by: 1. It takes three colors to shade (dithering counts as a color) Really the only thing I don't like on your ship is the shading, it doesn't follow the contours of the shapes, but you will improve. Try to avoid pillow shading while you match the contours of the ship. |

Wha?! Does dithering count as a colour? To help with the shading i think you should use higher contrast (generally on the blue and orange parts, the grey is fine), otherwise the actual shading is hardly seeable (even though my screen's contrast is up). I like the concept though, 'lobster' hehe. |

dithering is not a colour, is two colours patterned together to appear
another shade or to blend them into each other. |

You are misunderstanding. I meant you can't shade with two colors only without dithering. So a dithered "color" would count as a "shade".

yo ill help with the revival of this thread. It is a 36x36 pixel, 12
colors with the background. Took me about 40 minutes. i am just
naturally a slow worker. it pisses me off some times.
![]() it is like a giant squid/metal hybrid. that thing sticking out of its what would normally be its beak is a large key it uses to open up a gate into some other dimention or hyper space, havent decided yet... it started out as a regular ship but then became a crab like creature, but the claws looked out of place, so i swapped them with some tenticles... those are some nice ship there out law. But the blue exhuast looks way too solid, that might just be how it looks on a white background. some really good examples of pixel thrust is in the game Sigma Star Saga for the GBA. there are some cool ships too. really wierd concept to it too... *edit* the contrast is different when i up loaded it. it is a little harder to see colors. so i made a variant with a blueish carapace... ![]() Edited by MurrMan |
