So, I've had an idea I've been musing over for some time now and have tried to get this going among the communities of other art forums I participate. Unfortunately, none of them can do pixel art!

I bring to you my collab idea.
Each frame of the animation is worked on by a group of users who focus on their sprite - this will be concatenated and refereed by the game master. Creativity, your limit; morals, your guide.

The aim of the game is to make an epic fight scene!
Throw in a sprite - either a WIP or finished item - and customize each turn. The turn will be finalized after each combatant has updated their sprite(s) or a GM has updated an AFK user; be warned as not replying can cause serious consequences for your battle... who needs that arm anyway?

Obviously some refining on the idea is required as I have never successfully had this going before but I thought I would try this somewhere more appropriate.

Any questions/ideas ?

Questions
Perspective) Side on, Isometric?
Scale) What'd be the size of a regular person, 48px high?
Time) How long do we get to update?
Acceptable Turns) Is there anything we can or can't draw in? I'm assuming that things like drawing someone pulling out an instant death weapon is out of the question.
Turn Duration) Is there any required lead up to a big attack or something? For instance a flying dropkick in sequential art would need a jump frame before the payoff.
Stage) Do we get any setup or staging to a fight?
Characters) Do our characters need to be humanoid? For instance would a character like metaknight be fine?

I guess I really didn't put enough detail into this.
Perspective:
My main inspiration for this have been the Super Smash Bros. series. It looks like we've got the base idea as you managed to reference Metaknight (bonus points!). So, side on platformer.

Time:
I'm thinking once every few days, but it would vary mainly due on what is actually happening. If two characters get into hand-to-hand then things could be tricky to sprite.

Acceptable Turns:
Being greedy and victory oriented is not out of the question, just don't assume that it will be very successful. Remember a GM merges all actions together per turn - style is rewarded, jerk moves are scolded.

Turn Duration:
Indeed! Move animations are consecutive, so to land a drop kick on someone, you really will need to make it come out of nowhere or agree with the target that you'll hit them and the make some epic block/recovery/death scene. Its all about the style! Work WITH each other, not against.

Stage:
I've yet to start work on the stage. I was going to wait until there are at least 3 or 4 characters ready to fight, decide on the average player height and make a stage appropriately. I was thinking characters could be somewhat the height of my avatar? Its still up to debate, really.

Characters:
A character is a character is a character. As long as you can make it move and pull off something awe inspiring, go for it. If you want to make a giant mech robot then sure! Just remember you'll be the one having to animate it or it will sit there and do nothing. Try for something you'll have the talent to pull off.

Some idea on how it could work.
 
1-It would be Isometric (to allow more players with smaller pic).
2-We would choose the pic size and pallete, and scale.
3-People request squares (like in those collab pics) and draw them (only first frame) with their chars (and scenario) on it.
4-Then in each round people make the next frame. People give votes and the best one is the official next frame. Then a new round start.
