Light beams would look cool but maybe mislead the attention away from the fish. The background looks amazing with the fish (i just see a weird line on top of the second backfin that has some really weird AA)

Saturation is like a drug - you can make picture more and more saturated and every time you think "a little bit more saturation will not harm". And finally you end up with highest saturation possible. I just don't like saturation for this. The fish is underwater after all - high saturation looks unnatural.

Perhaps you are right about the clutter, but for me background looked empty without those scarce seaweed. Maybe I had to use some less distractive colors for distant seaweed.

Strange circles are those little dust-like thingies - floating algae and plankton. It's a shame for me I couldn't make it obvious.
But anyway I already posted it - so I will keep my eye on things you mentioned in my future works - not on this one unfortunately. Thanks.
