The theme for this isometric collaboration is horror. Exteriors and
Interiors rooms, halls, catacombs, labyrinths, sewers, tombs,
sacrificial altars and anything that fits within the horror theme is OK.
As for characters, vampires, mummies, zombies, ghosts, murderers,
spiders, even aliens and OTT fantasy are OK as long as they are horrorific!
Rules • You can create more than one tile but your tile may not neighbor your own tile (even diagonally). • Only one active tile reservation at any one time per participant. You must finish a tile before making a new one. • Once you reserve a tile you must post an initial WIP within 7 days so it doesn't hold others up. • Once you post an initial WIP you get 14 days to update your tile or post a comment letting us know its active. Every new WIP/post update (busy, school, work, sick, moving, etc.) thereafter buys you 14 days. • Pink outer tiles MUST use transparency to 'break the grid'. (See the ISOak collab edges) • Inner tiles CAN NOT use transparency. • You must use the supplied palette colors (13) only, but you don't have to use them all in your tile (Those making outer tiles will have one extra color for transparency). • NO animations. • Your tile must match the tiles surrounding yours, • Matching your neighbors does not mean it has to continue their idea/concept. Just that it blends seamlessly somehow. • Please keep the collab's general light-source and scale as shown below consistent in your tile. This may be tweaked in your tile if you use secondary light sources. • Please post your tile on its own as a comment and make sure to say what number it is and it will be added to the collab master image by a Collab Manager in order to keep the color palette true. • Your tile may be added to the master image in WIP stages if it shows the tile's direction enough to help others visualize their own tiles. Special Rules • • From the 6th tile on your tile MUST have at least one neighboring tile already posted that your tile blends into. • • In the event that a tile is made without a reservation or 2 people accidentally work on the same tile a special vote may be held, or a duel to the death may be started by the 2 people. • Special rule(s) may be added to accommodate whatever loophole y'alls manage to find and exploit. Notes • Novice or pro, all are encouraged to collaborate. • Possible tile rejection if your tile is not in isometric projection or fails in scale. • Possible tile rejection if your tile does not match and blend into your neighbor(s) tile. • Possible tile rejection if your tile just doesn't blend in with some degree of harmony. Should this happen to you check for comments left for you...there will be some! • You can get tips and help to improve your tile on this thread. No need to make a separate WIP thread. • You are encouraged to take all c+c on your tile. You do not need to apply all given c+c but please don't ignore them. Especially from your neighbor. Remember this is a 'collaboration'. • Please use the 'PJs Image Specs' link HERE to check your final tile colors has max 13 colors (14 if an outer tile) and the right colors. This project features Erstus' award winning 13 color palette. This time around the theme will call for characters and these having personality and some level of expression seems likely. We have increased the people scale slightly from the classic size for this but there should be no problem with this as shown in the image below by Pawige that is smaller than the scale for this collab. Note this is not isometric and is only a ref for general details on human sized characters.

Hello. I am confused by the example lightsource's shading. Is the light coming from above and to the right, at a right angle? Or is the light coming from above and to the top-right, in line with the isometric grid?
I think the intention is to have the lightsource at a right angle to the object but the shadow cast by the object is not making it work for me. It looks like a shadow for a thin wall rather than for a box.
![]() If the lightsource is at a right angle, the brightest part would be the rightmost edge of the cube. The visible right side and the hidden right side would be the same shade, the top a bit darker.
If the lightsource is in line with the isometric grid, the brightest part would be the top-right edge of the cube. The hidden right face of the cube and the top of the cube would likely be the same bright shade, the visibile right face and hidden left face the midtone, and the visible left face the darkest.

We discussed the lighting when planning and I'm pleased the first question relates to that. We always make the lightsource your bottom left example in these collabs. This time with the theme being 'horror' we are taking for granted that many will use secondary, ambient and other lightsources for perhaps dramatic effect or harder shadows or whatever certain areas end up being. The lightsource given is intended to be the 'world' general lightsource. We'll update that main template image with your bottom left example. |

First 5 tiles are reserved. In order to prevent first week traffic, I'll disturb all of you guys daily (so that a few tiles get done a.s.a.p. and open up new spaces to reserve).

Mino, the diagonal is just an 'area' you claim. We have found that any grid that falls within iso angles end up showing the 'lines'. Additionally, with non-iso tiles all have to be slightly more careful about matching their neighbors seamlessly because noone is apt to 'lean' on an edge and further show the grid. An iso grid would/could bring up issues of overlapping.
*We gave that some thought :p |

@Ashkin- I think if you were to have a stronger texture or the floor that would help. I don't really dig the tiles, right now. Also, the blood on the walls doesn't seem like it is the right color for some reason. Doesn't contrast enough, I think. (see never-creature's blood) edit: and what are you mods' opinions on text in the artwork? I recall the Iso collab before the last one had one or two instances of text. Is that allowed this time? @crozier; Ashkin's tile is far from finished but you may edit his tile to show what you mean or pick a tile near him and show a fine example and expect him to continue that.
As for the text, we don't really plan this theme to be over comical, as it's supposed to be horror, and text usually contains funny stuff, but it is not forbidden as long as it doesn't disrupt the scene (read: no huge text boxes please). 40 is yours. main image updated. More work, I guess. Still no idea what to do with the floor tiles or anything, and the dents on the door look awful, might just remove them entirely.
