PikoPixel is a Mac OS X application for editing static (non-animated) pixel art. It runs on Intel/PPC, OS X 10.4 or later.

I think you'd get much more feedback by submitting a public version and let anybody give their reaction on forums (or contact you privately). They will do if they feel they have something meaningful to contribute.
People hesitate to write themselves up as testers, it feels like a commitment. In any case, from the video it looks very good so far. OSX has much less choice of pixelling programs than Windows, so a new one is welcome. The tool "Pencil + Fill drawn shape" and the sampler window are very nice, they show that you know what a pixeller needs. |

Mac pixel apps are few so they are most welcome. I would test it out and review.

yrizoud: Thank you for the feedback! There will be a public beta soon, just looking for early-bird testers at the moment.
jalonso: Sent you a PM, thanks! |

I'm an iOS developer with a free pixel editor, a "paint kind" iPad App in AppStore. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/repin-pixel-art-studio/id766364268?mt=8
I think we can cooperate in terms of making a popular painting app for both platforms. I also would be glad to hear from anyone, no matter positive or critical feedback, I guess a critical email from a professional is most welcome. MB@E-XE.RU for this case. |

here's some changes and additions that would be nice
most drawing programs let you shift click with pencil to draw a line between two points. the ability to set custom modifier hotkeys if the layers popup panel had all the layers visible at once instead of in a dropdown bar it would save a click. i guess it would get clunky with lots of layers but it would be nice when there's just a few override existing use of a key when setting custom hotkeys, and set whatever tool it was assigned to to null e.g. if i want to set pencil to d i have to find what other tool is using d first (color sampler), change that to something else which isn't already being used, and then change pencil to d. it would be easier if i could just set pencil to d and then set color sampler afterwards if i want color sampler to have a hotkey. the ability to merge layers from the layers window would be intuitive. there doesn't seem to be a way to merge all active layers without losing all inactive layers |

Hi, wonderful, using it on two Macs one running under Snowleopard the other under Tiger and haven't come across any problems. It has a very clean feel to it. Love the popup zoom & pan, the incremental nudge of a selection and the ability to flip it.Useful canvas resizing , proportional scaling & preview panel.
I do have some ideas, which if possible to implement, might be useful - an airgun / spray with adjustable flow and tip with different modes like lighten, darken. ability to create a stencil for chosen colours. a switch colour tool (replace colour). an adjustable palette that can be saved, loaded & can remap gifs (so you know exactly what a gif's palette & order will be). and of course support for animated gifs & apngs. Thanks for this great pixel painting tool which is such a pleasure to use. Looking forward to future developments. |

most drawing programs let you shift click with pencil to draw a line between two points. BETA4 adds a couple line-drawing features: - The Pencil tool can now draw straight lines by holding down 'Shift' while dragging (note: this is different than 'Shift-Click' - the line is drawn by dragging the mouse while holding 'Shift', not by holding 'Shift' then releasing the mouse button and clicking at a new point) - The Line tool can now add/delete line segments while dragging (tap 'Control'/'Option' to add/delete line-segment endpoints) Originally posted by PerspexSphinx
a switch colour tool (replace colour). There's a couple ways to replace a color in the current drawing layer: - Use the Fill tool while holding the 'Command' key (matches pixels anywhere on the canvas, not just contiguous pixels) - Select all pixels of the color to be replaced (Magic Wand tool + 'Command' key), then press 'Command+L' (shortcut for menu item, Edit>Fill Selected Pixels) to fill with the current draw color; For cases where you're comparing different colors as the replacement, this is more efficient than the Fill tool, because you can switch the draw color using the mouse (Color Picker/Sampler Image panels, or Color Sampler tool) and recolor the selection using the keyboard - this saves having to move the mouse back and forth between canvas & panel for each color change Edited by CaptainGoodnight - 15 November 2014 at 10:55am |
