Not sure if posting to the right forum, but... I need a little push into the right direction.
![]() I decided to create a pixel of Abraxas from TRON (the badass ![]() ![]() I think I'm stuck. I don't sure what to add, but the piece also looks too far from finished. I used these two pictures as references. |

Your background being the same as your light color isn't helping. At least give it a visible silhouette by changing your background. You could even use the background to add detail that might not be appropriate o the character itself, leaving the character to be mostly a mysterious black silhouette while interesting dusk colors and clouds or lightning occur behind him (maybe these elements could even create interesting rim lighting).
Alternatively you could show more of the face than is in your picture. Many other concept pieces from my google search show more facial features visible. Or you could do glass with a limited amount of facial visibility. This character's main neon light color is yellow. Not sure why you've changed it to blue, but unless there's a good reason I'd stick to the character color and tweak it slightly for your purposes. Also this character has an unfortunate light design on their chin that detracts from being able to see their jaw line accurately. I'd suggest working on different jaw lines that might look more EPIC!!!!!! If you're limiting what you show to this degree you need to make what you show count for a lot. ![]() ^ some elements that make this image successful: good silhouette vs background light, attractive stylization, an exciting moment in time, slightly tweaked iconic yellow character color, cool flowy hair and cape, more interesting light tattoos on body, decent suggested anatomy, intense eyes, sexy people. Now you may not want to put all these elements into your piece, but hopefully some can be useful to you. Edited by Iscalio - 29 January 2015 at 5:01pm |

Thank you for reply and advices Iscalio! :)
I've tried to create small sprite of Abraxas, that's what I've got: ![]() On a smaller canvas it's much easier, but I'm still not happy with result. I tried one more time, I think it's much better now: ![]() I'll continue on with improvement. (I used light color for background, in comparison to darkness of his clothes, because I wanted to have contrast between Abraxas and background, that's temporary, though) > This character's main neon light color is yellow. Not sure why you've changed it to blue, but unless there's a good reason I'd stick to the character color and tweak it slightly for your purposes. Well, I know that his main color is yellow, but I couldn't get how to draw the yellow neon right so it didn't looked jagged. That's why I tried blue :) P.S.: Sorry for long delay, didn't had time to reply :\ Edited by volter9 - 01 February 2015 at 10:22am |
