Pangeo is an indie 2D Sandbox RPG currently being developed by Creative++ Studios. Pangeo, inspired by games such as Terraria, Minecraft, and Skyrim, takes the best elements from various genres and incorporates them into an entirely new style of game. Build enormous structures, explore an amazing landscape, slay hordes of enemies, complete hundreds of quests, and more!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When is Pangeo going to be released?
A: We don't know, but we do know that we are working hard to get it into your hands as soon as it's ready! Currently we're hoping to be done by the end of 2016, but no promises on that.

Q: Will Pangeo be on Steam?
A: All we can say is that we will try to get Pangeo on Steam. We cannot confirm 100% that we'll be able to get greenlit but we definitely plan to put it on Steam Greenlight. If we do get voted to the top, then yes, it will be on Steam. If it doesn't, we do have other plans to get the game into your hands, so don't worry!

Q: Can I test the game?
A: Eventually, yes. We'll be having multiple phases of testing, including some closed tests and some public demos. The closed tests will involve us picking out some of our most loyal supporters as well as people that we personally would like to see playing our game, and will slowly expand. The public demos will be everyone else's chance to try out the game, as they will simply be tiny portions of the game just revealed for people to get an idea of it, report bugs, etc. We will likely release a couple of these throughout development.

Q: What makes Pangeo different from Terraria, Minecraft and Skyrim?
A: Pangeo, although of a similar style, shifts the focus of the game and switches up the formula you've come to expect from these kinds of games. While mining and gathering resources will be a part of the game, we've decided to put a larger focus on an awesome combat system and an epic story just waiting to be discovered. More details on combat and lore will be revealed soon. In addition to that, we will feature intricate progression systems such as research, chemistry, farming, etc.

Q: How do you plan on handling lore on a randomly generated world?
A: Each world will generate with everything needed to fully enjoy the lore. Most lore will be handled through quests and a journal GUI. As you explore new biomes and all of that, you will unlock new background lore in your journal, meanwhile your quests will guide you through the overall story of the game. In addition, there will be a feature called the Almanac that will be filled with new entries as you complete enough tasks from one section of the journal. This almanac will contain things like background info, details about mobs, concept art, etc.

Q: How will the player advance through the progression systems and crafting tiers?
A: There will be various methods of progression throughout the game. Primarily the player will be able to unlock new gear and items via crafting with found materials, loot drops, finding them in caves, purchasing at vendors, or as quest rewards, etc. The other methods include new researches which will allow you to unlock more advanced items and tiers, although not necessarily for better equipment.

Q: Is there a particular setting for the game?
A: The game progresses through time realistically, but in a fantasy world so no exact real world setting is in play. Players will begin with medieval-esque equipment, but by the end of the game will have access to a much wider variety of style, including sci-fi, steampunk, etc.

Can I join in on the development of Pangeo?

Generally, we need Lore Writers, Pixel Artists, Conceptualizers, and Programmers, but as of currently, we are only looking for any coders and programmers that might be willing to help out in the project. Please keep in mind that it will be mostly volunteer work, and we do not have any concrete promises to incentivize anyone who decides to join the team.

If and whenever we are looking for help in other areas, it would most likely be announced in our Social Group Forum, so follow it closely.

Any further queries or comments are welcome in the comments.

The game is currently in an extreme alpha, we're currently looking to release a playable build sometime in September or October, no concrete dates though.

Here's a screenshot of a recent build.
