Hey all!

I finished this character sprite the other day, and I personally think it's nice, but I want to know what you guys think about it. I asked on the forum of the game engine I'm using, but they're more focused on the engine itself, so I brought it here.

The game is supposed to be Chrono Trigger-esque, so it should abide by the SNES's capabilities. The biggest thing I'm worrying about is that it looks a lot like Crono...

Thanks for any help!

I updated the sprite a bit because I suddenly realized that I had been pillow-shading. Oops.

I also got rid of a couple colors. Now every section of the character has only three colors.(Minus the face, it has five for the shading.)

Colors are really bright and could be toned down a bit. You have a outlines on most things but not the arms, try to be consistant. The face outline is also grey but all others are colored. Try to make sure there's enough contrast between the darkest shade and the outline color too, the paints and shirt are cutting it a little close. This tutorial may be helpful.

Thanks, skeddles!

I darkened the outlines a bit and then turned the saturation on everything down by ten, and this is what I got. I had been thinking of turning down the brightness for a while, as well. Oh, yeah, I got rid of the grey face outline, too.

I tried to outline the arms, but because they're so small, you lose a lot of the shading on them, but here's a version with shaded arms anyway.

I like the first one better.
