Greetings fellow squaretists
Doing pixel art for a couple of months and and seeking for some feedback. Here is my current project. ![]() I would like to know what parts are good, what parts are bad and causes your eyes bleed. Share you good habits/techniques to get clean results when drawing a face. Department i still struggle in: Cloak and mask wrinkles, muscle elevations, properly angle some gear pieces, ray tracing(for example gem light spreading on nearest surfaces-this multiplies colors in palette if i use blending) Here is tiny bonus. Progress of face features. https://imgur.com/a/DrMajpl Much appreciated for invested time. |

Hi, welcome! The update makes it much more clear where this is going. What's up with the two dark vertical lines on her face? I don't understand how the shadow work. The from the shadows of her hair, seem a bit close together. Also you need a very strong one directional light source, and not much atmospheric light, to get such a strong shadow from thin strands of hair! For the next update, consider posting it unscaled without background, instead of a screenshot. The forum has a built in zoom function, click to zoom and shift+click to zoom out! |

Thanks for the feedback.
"What's up with the two dark vertical lines on her face? I don't understand how the shadow work." I am experimenting and those lines are just drafts. Planned source of light is above her or above her and slightly closer to us-viewers.Changed a bit and added simple highlight on her chin. "The from the shadows of her hair, seem a bit close together." Fixed. "Also you need a very strong one directional light source, and not much atmospheric light, to get such a strong shadow from thin strands of hair!" Reasonable, fixed Update with feedback taken into account ![]() |
