Another WIP of #46:
![]() Next are some vikings on that ship! Very unsure what to do of the wooden pole coming up from the centre of Christoball's tile with St George and the Dragon though. Anyone have any suggestions? @Reo: Looking so awesome! Where is your hometown? :D @gawrone: It came out looking really amazing. I like how you made it easy for others to continue from. And it's also very nice to have this dragon in the top centre of the full piece. Going to be such a cool mini-collab! @nitbe: super cute goat! I hope you find a good place for it in the tile. @Something Fishy: Definitely seeing improvements! I'm sure it's going to look really nice once finished. You've got some good advice to work from too. Keep it up. :) |

Anyone have any suggestions? Vikings!!! Wonderful! Will the ship have a stereotypical striped sail and shields on the sides? If it’s some kind of a shore maybe that pole could have a lantern hanging so the vikings can find their way to plunder much easier :) Since I’m continuing it down, please let me know how you want to end the water edge? Falling off as a waterfall? Frozen with hanging icicles? Fade out into a myst? Thank you for the compliments. |

THIS IS A WIP
Well, i added the isometric view and the continuation of the other tiles. The horned god needs a lot of work yet, and the orb is now a stone orb i dont know if it looks like it. The woods could be done with the palete needed for all the other stuff, i thought it would be too much so i will only concentrate on the god and the orb. Hope i improved since the last time. Tell me what you think, your advices are a lot of help and windsomy to me. ![]() |

Yes, this is getting much better! :D
As for the continuation I think you mostly need to work on the right edge, add some of that darker green to break up the line between the two tiles. ![]() |

Also If you look at the Jeremy's dragon tile, on the other part of the road the grass is different and it is acctually a grain with different colour and structure. You could find the WiP of the tile 19 by Esven to see a cool example on how to continue it. Also the shading on the stone orb is different than under it. And the first one is more appropriate with the set light direction. It should be more or less something like this: ![]() Same thing with the shadow casted by the demon. Another thing is that maybe the demon and the orb could be separated to achieve better readability? I had a problem finding out what is happening under the demons belt. If you not cover it maybe it will be easier to read? Or maybe work a bit more about the shape of those legs and their positioning in relation to the rest of the body? Or maybe this is becasue the head looks a bit bent backwards? When I draw the vertical center of the head and the torso it is more clear: ![]() But I have to say that all the work you already done with your idea is great. Please keep it up! |

Wow Mirre! Magical tile! I'm from Östersund. For the pole I can think of several things, like pulley for loading cargo, or a sign, or just one of a series of poles for tying ropes unto. A lantern is not a bad idea :)
Something like in this @Gen_void: Good improvements! Its getting there, the flute was an inspired addition! @Geci & Irena: Thank you! |

@gawrone: Thank you! Yes, shields on the sides and maybe the striped sail or some other pattern. The ship will have a figurehead on the other side too. Might make it a little larger actually.
Well you could continue the water precisely any way you want downwards. If you want to add other water vehicles, sea monsters, waterfall, ice, or whatever you come up with! :) Do you want me to add parts of anything in particular to where it connects to your tile? @gawrone & @Reo: Thank you both for the great suggestions! I might go with a bell and someone ringing it to warn for the vikings! :D @Reo: Oh awesome! I must check that rune stone out the next time I visit my friend in Östersund. You live in Umeå now, is that right? So funny we're in the same town (if you do). |

@Nitbe: Its a very nice tile, good work on the shepherd especially. I do think you need to blend your left side into the darker water coming in from Gecimen's tile. If you have your water gradually get darker as it comes closer to the edge it can work.
I can also remove the blood trail from my tile if you don't want to continue it. |

I applied the connections at last, changed the look of the stone orb for better (i think) and the demon its almost over, but maybe you can give me some final advices? ![]() You are doing great! I will give you some feedback that comes to my mind, and maybe someone else will give more or better than me. 1) At this point you already could start the process of cleaning. The most important thing here is all those higly contrasting singular pixels. If you have so many of them, but they are not consistetly used in some sort of order (to be interpreted as a stylistic choice), they just look very noisy and unpleasant. The most disturbing are those brown ones on the bottom grass part. But also the green ones sprayed here and there on the road are not perfect. You don't need them. In this collab already you can find few very different solution examples, presented by different artists, on how to make grass blades that look better than random single pixels. Take inspiration. Also you have some single pixels that look very unintentional on demon's horns and legs. I think that the stone orb could stay like that, becasue this gives it a kind of granite texture, but clean its outline a bit - especiallly on the bottom. 2) Fix the isometry of the demon. The eyes the horns and the nipples follow the grid of 2:1 line, but the feet and the belt are straight and elbows and knees are only slightly leaned. Try to keep it consistent but don't be super rigid about it. Try to add some curvature thicknes (to the straight line of the belt for example), otherwise the demon constructed only from the 2:1 lines will look flat, like cutted out of paper. 3) Something happened to the flute during your edits, and now it is completely unreadable. Or if you decided it to be a different instrument try to make it more clear what is it. |

![]() Gawrone gives a pretty good rundown of things to fix. I did and edit to adress some of the points. Because a lot of the readability of the demon got way noisier since your last update that I thought was actually pretty clean. Single pixel noise can be used for texture, and sometimes it can work well enough like in grass, but often it just makes it hard to see what something is supposed to be. In the edit I tried to approach a smooth stone texture with cracks and bumps and where it need texture a little bit of dithering might be more appropriate. Likewise the aa on the demon doesn't really work in my opinion because the purple and especially the green both don't read as darker than the red. I also wonder is it a flute or is the demon consuming an infant like Cronus? I also want to alert you to the fact that you've introduced several different shades of browns in the image. Keep going though, you've made big strides already and this type of gradual refinement is what pixel art is all about and how all of us learnt the skill to begin with! |

@Gawrone: While the characters show excellent sprite work they are at least a head too tall for the scale, especially compared to your horse. I would consider angling the waterfall In an isometric angle.
But the pixel work looks excellent, the bard is fantastic. |

Wow! Quick feedback and only quick implementation shows how true it is.
Made Geralt and Yen 8 pixels shorter and they are maybe a bit less sexy but much more ISO firendly now :) I made only slight edits to Jaskier's butt and legs becasue it was harder. But he is sitting and I'm gonna pretend he is fat. Waterfall will also be much better. Thanks for help! ![]() |

@Gecimen: Your tile came out looking awesome! Really nice work!
@Nitbe: Super cute! @gawrone: Love how your tile is looking so far! The characters read so well, and when you adjusted their heights it blends so much better with the other tiles. I'll work some more on #46 tomorrow, been to tired after work the past 2 days. But, I'm thinking of extending the water a bit further to the left. I hope it doesn't mess anything up for you with the composition and the waterfall. @Christoballs: Looking real good! These edge tiles take a little longer to work on with the bigger size. @Gen_void: It's coming along really nicely. I would still listen to the advice from Reo and gawrone about single pixel noise. I see there's still some on the ground and on the demon (random yellow pixel on demon body for example). Also, when you do outlines, it's better if you keep each line to one colour I think, and make them brighter on the sides where the light source comes from. When you make it back at the edges and lighter in the middle like that it gives the demon a "fuzzy" look which isn't great when you're working with such a small size. So, look at the outlines of the demon on Reo's edit for a good example. But you are definitely making improvmenets, and we can tell you're putting in some hard work. |

Also if you will need me to add part of the boat or a paddle on top of my tile don't hesitate. I have space in that area, and made the gryphon much smaller. @Christoballs, such cool tiles are worth waiting :) |
