I'm 'only' 15 also, but age doesn't matter in the insane world of pixel art.
That house looks quite good actually, you've got the right idea as far as shading is concerned. Here's a tiny tiny tiny thing I noticed: this is hard to explain, but for the corner nearest to the screen, you made it so that the vertical line cuts the base of the house on the left side of the pixels that make the bottom corner (confusing?). If you want to prevent this, at every corner in isometric pixel art, draw 3 pixels instead of the usual slope. this way, your corner will cut straight in the middle instead of on the side. @larwick: well, it is a small detail, some isometric artists never do it at all.
@yogii: you might want to play with higher contrast to give your art more taste. It looks really bland at the moment because your contrast is low. You can also make your shadows have a blueish-purplish tinge to them, and a yellowish tinge to lighted areas. This gives art more realism. You can also exaggerate this to make it look fantastic (not fantastic as in 'great', but as in knights and dragons). |

Yes as said jpg is bad.
I found some of the problems your had and corrected them in this edit.
![]() The hardest part was getting rid of the jpg'd crap...you had like 300+ colors...
Anyways, made highlights more prounounced, hue shifting on some colors, gave it some variety, and ditched the black out line...hope you can learn something from it.
Realized I accidentally switched teh colors on teh rooftop, so ASIDE from that, I got my ideas across... Edited by Buzz - 29 November 2006 at 3:56pm |

Seems like you followed that tutorial quite well. Next try an original building of your own design using what you learned.
About what ceddo mentioned on the 3 pixel points. Some do it others don't. The reason I would suggest you don't get into that habit is that with 3pixels edges you will never get several buildings to fit the grid. Stick to 2 pixels and you can always elaborate/revisit you stuff In case you didn't get it yet. Use only .gif or .png files for pixelart. |

I know the guy who made that tutorial in person hehe
Anyways, we could say it's the same house as in the tutorial, nothing much to c+c there. "Im 15 and all I use is paint" <---- Well, DUH all the pixel artists use it, just the pencil tool anyways. And pixelfreak was like 14 when he did that tutorial. But since you are so young and full of energy, start creating pixels, we will be happy to help you n____n ![]() Quick edit of the house in the tutorial, you can use some tricks in the windows to have more depth Edited by Dra_chan - 30 November 2006 at 2:40am |
