here is a run cycle i am working on. 

its 12 frames, and anyone is free to use the lines for it...

here is my progress:

Really smooth.

I think you could easily fix his shoulders. Right now they're pretty stiff... think of his shoulder joints as being on a T-bar to his body, rocking side to side. This would give it more character and flow

Edit: that would also apply to the hips

Ok its not walking very realistic... Most people who are running, do exactly the same thing with there left leg as their right leg..


Paste it in your GIF editor, and watch every frame. I did not make edits, but I have added some lines..
From frame 3 to 4, the leg moves just a bit up... the left leg..
frame 9 to 10, it not only moves up, but it also moves to the left alot.. Now the first frame he is released from the ground he hits the line.. thats the farrest point he will ever get.. for the other leg, that happens in frame 5, thats the second frame after the release from the ground.. also that moment the other leg is at his farrest point at the right.. thats not the case in frame 10..
From frame 5 to 6, the right leg moves down alot and alot to the left...
on frame 11 to 12, it doesnt have to move that far down....

This way there are many many more things you can see, that are wrong.. chech the arms too.. they should be doing the same too.. You can just create 1 leg and then copy that and put it in another layer with 6 frames difference on the front of it...

Because now, there is soo much difference, its not hard to see the light blue leg is way to long in air when its on the right.. and it moves too fast to the left..
the dark blue leg is pretty good, but it looks like its size is changed a bit at frame 5..

not true.  not everyones movements are mirrored.  there are many many many factors that prevent that.  most people do not run the same.  i prefer to keep this more realistic than like typical art where everything is done once then copied.

hmm.. You are right, I have a strong foot and a bad one..

but I still think, that his left leg (the one on the back, the darker now, that was the lightest before) is hovering too long above the ground when its allmost going to be placed on ground.. if you are looking only to that leg, and not to the whole thing I get the feeling it almost freezes for a very short time..

Howeevr his right arm (his right) is moving pretty weird when going to the left (our left)
His upper arm is going too high. try to do that with your own arm.. not possible...

Looks very good. I don't really like how the head moves though, people don't turn their heads that much when running. You should put less movement in it.

Also, watch the back arm when it turns back, I think that could use some work. It doesn't look as smooth as the other arm.

The head moves a little much from side to side. Also the body remains pinned in the air, watch the pelvis there should be some gravity applied as well as recoil (think springs). Apart from those crits everything looks nice

It looks very good.
I noticed a few things though, I think you shouldn't let the foot bend that much on the following frames:
 
And the knees look a bit to high, I think it would look much better if it were a pixel or 2 lower in some frames.
Also, I think that you should stiffen the hand a bit. It looks very loose now. Although it might be this way because the hands are still a sketch.

The jump is nice but i would suggest looking a prince of persia or flashback references, your jumps is nice but maybe a bit exagerrated. Or maybe film you jumping then retroscope it with pixelart.

At a low frame rate it looks ok. But... the arm motion is really, really exaggerated. He looks more like he is focusing on swinging his arms then gaining momentum for the jump. There is also some choppiness in the leg motion. But it is looking good. These make a really nice showcase of animation great work so far.

Try a spot jump, you wont bring your arms above your head, it feels fairly unnatural.

I don't really like how the shoes shrink in the last few frames.
Also, I don't really like the arms in the frames 2, 6, 9 and 11, I think they should be closer to eachother.

I really like these animations, keep up the good work


the arms like that are done for reason.  this guy is running like a bitch, so things he does are way over exaggerated at times.  the show is smaller because it is now pointing towards the user and will be make more clear once the shading is done.  the arms are still being constantly tweaked and worked on, so expect some updates tonight.

I think he is not jumping far enaugh.. if you would bend your knees like that and jump like this with this speed and this angle you should be able to jump much further..

Those red lines should be allmost the same... the first guy is jumping as far as possible now, the second guy is jumping upwards.. if you want the first guy to jump upwards as well than the red line should be in the same angle as in the second guy.. so he should not lean over that much in that frame..
