Well, this is something I was doing as practice, how does it look so far?

EDIT: Also, a glass marble with a pattern in the middle:

EDIT 2: Also working on some lineart of myself, for anatomy practice. Will post that tomorrow if I finish it.

Well since no one has replied yet, I'll have to double post...

Anyway, this is the beginning phase of my soon to be entry:

I know it's not much, but if any critique can be offered, I would appreciate it. Also, I do not have a reference picture, I apologize for the inconvenience. I'll definitely be working more on this tomorrow.

If you're new to art (relatively speaking) and don't have a reference from which to pull; your work will, at any size, suffer for it.
So for the layout do get some sort of reference, please. For the sake of your future as an artist don't cut corners until you know how many and where they all are.

The dithering on the sphere isn't helping to eliminate the color banding.
If you notice this happening in future works you can:
1) Drop colors and progressively dither those dropped areas
2) Drop the dithering

Dithering works best on backgrounds or other large works where AA and creative texturing just won't hold up the illusion of a much larger palette.

The back lit edge of the sphere is too blurry in comparison to the rest.
You might try doing another sphere where the secondary light isn't a rim light. Just try using 2 or 3 light sources and moving them around as an exercise. That sort of practice adds up quickly toward doing the sort of pieces you'd rather be doing.
