  1. We are a small group who started long ago and have had a few different names, but finally settled on Burningstorm Studios.  We have a working demo and are coming up on a beta for people to actually play.  If you are interested in seeing the Demo it can be located on our forums at www.burningstormstudios.com along with much more information.
  2. We need help with pixel art for tiles and sprites. (monsters, NPC's, ground, buildings, walls)  Any other art is also welcome.
  3. Not paid, sort of just a in your spare time kind of thing.

  6. We have some small projects that we have done, none worth mentioning if you are interested enough though you can find them on the forums of the websites given.

Yeah it is a download, are you sure there is no way we could change your mind, maybe you could check out the Demo?

Anyways it is being programmed  in VB with DX8.

Right now we are making final touches to the World Editor, Storyline/Quests, and the pixeling.  After that we will have a basic game running that can be logged onto by anyone.  Of course bugs are suspected and this will be beta, but after that we will continue building the game.

We currently have around 6 Developers and 3 are always active at this point 1 is off and on and the other 2 have been busy for awhile.

Can i ask why you opted for using VB as your underlying development language with DirectX?

The main reason is that we do not know enough C++ to program the game although we have considered many times switching to C++.  We haven't due to the main reason that with DirectX 8 being nearly 100% compatible with VB that the coding will not be significantly faster if we switched to C++ since they both use API calls. The only real advantages to C++ over VB is the fact that C++ has Dynamic binding, Inheritance, and Encapsulation (aka True OOP). Also a common misconception is that C++ is MUCH better for game programming but with VB we aren't using direct draw or bitblt but instead DirectX 8 as an API call just as it would be in C++. In fact one of our Development Team Members is in the process of assessing the program to convert to C++ to test if it will significantly change the speeds or not.

And in other news we have a new website.

www.burningstormstudios.com  Check it out.
