Topic: *Job Posting Terms - READ BEFORE POSTING* Posted: 06 August 2005 at 12:54am |
JOBS Some terms you must adhere to before posting an ad for a position. The terms may be changed along the way but, there needs to be some information posted than just "We R looking for a pixel artist to make some kewl grafix n stuff", etc, etc.
- Company Info
- Job Info
- Paid or not? and salary info?
- email address
- company website
- previous projects
Take the time to check over your post before submitting as you may have left out some very important information or have misspelled alot of your post which tends to let people know how unprofessional you may be. Put [Paid] or [Unpaid] in your posts title. Your thread may be locked if you hesitate to reply to rational questions from members or lack any detail about the job in question. If you continue to violate the rules here, your account will be suspended pending review.
DO NOT double post or bump. Use the edit button. Violators will have their thread locked.
RESUMES Posting your resume here is acceptable but, keep in mind that posting a couple of images with something saying "I am available to work" is hardly a resume. Here's a couple of hints to attract potential employers: - Spell check. Nothing says amateur like mispelling every other word.
- Post a couple of key images that really showcase what you can do. If you have more than 3, it is a good idea to post a link to your gallery/website.
- Let the employers know what kind of work you are and aren't willing to do.
- Lists of past jobs. Think of this as a real resume. Employers should be able to see your acheivements, etc
Please note:
If you have anything to do with NitronCity or you are connected with a fella named Gaffa, you are not allowed to post. In fact, you will most likely be banned. Just like Gaffa.

I think that this is a great idea, pixelblink. This should help those new job posters now.
An optional guideline could be some Demos or artistic previews of what the job entails.

Good idea.

i think he's saying that these rules are good as it sorts out teh
serious people from those who "spellcheck" there post to look
professional, however "talk to you over msn like a drunk ape".
perhaps a little unneccesary as most can tell the serious-ness just
from reading, whether its some 10 year old wanting free graphics for
a game made in rpg maker, or a serious experienced coder.

Id like to say that its a good idea to have a job section here!
My suggestions:
It would be nice to have the age of the responsible person as well.
Another suggestion, how about having three sections:
- paid work (and not "I have 10 bugs and want to hire 4 high quality fulltime slaves")
- unpaid work (with a lot of requirements and "exellent" future prognosis)
- Quick small jobs (single graphics - paid or unpaid) to help people who just need an avatar or anything.

Honestly, can't you use the search tool or something?
He was a guy who didn't follow the rules or was a dick or something.

Hey, im 10, and i think you should think about the other "mature" people out there. Would you think at first sight i was a ten year old making horrible ms paint-created solid-color unrealistic 394x332 images saved as jpegs?
PS. Oh i don't see a smiley in this post! :O
PPS. My pixel art isn't very good though.

Probably because many forums force people under 13 to lie about their age in order to register.

Probably because many forums force people under 13 to lie about their age in order to register. I know, i was pointing out the fact that he had lied. Long time ago now though.
