This is not so much a challenge as a request for ideas and, if the spirit moves you, an occasional pixel or two. I hope I have posted in the right forum.

A friend of mine and I are designing an online riddle game and, as part of our design, we have decided to present our images in a fairly consistent manner.

Like, http://www.eternal-quest.net/ , I would like to frame the riddle images consistently - the few riddle images I have designed have shamelessly taken Metal Slug pixel art (below) to create the image border.



The name of the riddle, Eclectic Enigma Engine, is inspired by Charles Babbage's Difference Engine which was the forerunner of the modern computer and as such I would like to use its victorian heritage to create a steampunk feel for the frame.

I would like to build my frames from smaller tiles a bit like I did here.



The tiles would be 10 pixels high and 20 wide for the horizontal parts of the frame and 20 by 10 for the vertical parts with 10 by 10 tiles at the corners. I want to add flavour tiles as well.

The image sizes will be consistent - either landscaped or in portrait in a 2 to 3 ratio.
